bods just wants to ***** and moan and pretend like he has something to be righteous about. the thing is hes just an ordinary white guy from the UK who has nothing going for him so he has to adopt a cause that he feels empowers himself.

seriously though, he whines about heteros being treated unfairly but then whines about homosexuals get the same treatment heterosexuals with allowing marrige.

Yeah, but for you it's wrong to be any other colour and live in the UK.

      WTF are you talking about?

Straight people have to go to a registry office and get a certificate of mariage to get these rights. Now gay people can do the same.

What discrimination? You're just angry that gay people can have the same rights you can.

Do us a favour Bods. Move to Austria.

I don't see by allowing gay marriage.. how this will infringe on the rights of heterosexuals.. I don't see how it is possible and why such an inference would be made. So you are absolutely right MRT (I thought I never say that) about Boddy.

dino, the problem is people like bods are now *****ing that heterosexual couples are getting robbed of something because of this. that somehow heterosexual partners should be able to have the same thing as homosexuals even though the homosexual version isnt as equitable as heterosexual marriges.

Ministers will propose homosexuals should get the same tax, pension and property rights as married couples provided they register their relationships in a new-style civil ceremony.

The government is, however, expected to provoke controversy by denying the same rights to unmarried heterosexual couples in long-term relationships. It will fuel claims that the government is pandering to the gay lobby.
Wait a second...how is the government denying the same right to unmarried heterosexual couples, when they have the right to get married? They can get all these benefits if they get married! Which is essentially what the gays have to do! What's the difference, Bods?

If you deny gays the right to marry, but set up a separate system wherein gays can have unions, but then so can straight people, isn't that just...silly? I mean, straight people already have the means of a union...marriage! So how are straight people being oppressed by this?

                      NOT TRUE AT ALL.

If those hetero couples CANNOT BE BODDERED to go to a registry office and get hitch they deserve to be shafted on these rights issued.

If gay people have the same right of a legal ceremony giving them the same rights as hetero couples, HOW CAN THAT BE DISCRIMINATION?

The problem here is that those hetero couples are bone idle and/or ignorant. They think that by shacking up for 6 months that gives them "common law marriage" status.

It's time they learned the facts - and if they want their rights, get there lazy backsides down to the office and get hitched.

If they ignore the state, why shouldn't the state ignore them?

if hes just mocking us, he could keep it simple and not waste his time, or our time in these kind of ridiculous posts. the fact he goes to the effort as much as he does leads me to believe he sincerely believes what he says.

Cause it's a mallard instead of a duck? If it has all the rights of marriage, why not simply call it marriage? Why call it "civil unions", a term that drips with the implied notion of "pretend marriage for those people". A special catagory created by fiat can just as easily be uncreated. Instead of being included in a centuries old tradition that acknowledges long term relationships as an important part of society, we're getting a bone thrown to us.

They're the legal and social equivalent of having seperate drinking fountains for blacks and whites. Both dispense water but that's not the point.

And frankly, I want to get married one day. I don't want to be civil unionised. Yeah, civil unions are a step forward but they're not the goal.

But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.
