What, they're not playing anything else on the European festival tour? Are you sure?

Now that is bad news. Personally I always go for carbon fibre frames - but it's still not good getting kicked in the face.

As for rock concert experiences, my PROUDEST moment happened at Monsters of Rock maybe 10 years ago.

Nuno Bettincourt was up on stage and the crowd was pretty bored, so I started a human pyramid. It ended up about 7 people high - and the guy on top dropped his pants and mooned Nuno.

Which prompted his crummy band to bugger off stage 20 minutes early. Yep, proud of that one.

Well Monk, I can't know what else they're playing on other concerts

And by old sh!t I refer to stuff from Kill 'Em All (Seek & Destroy and No Remorse) until the black one (Sad But True, Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters).

He's being melodramatic, he got caught in the face by accident by a crowdsurfer...still **** though nonetheless.

Now I enjoyed Bad Religion when they played in Birmingham last May. They may be knocking on a bit but they know how to put on a punk show

                    MTVE Live Metallica Concert Broadcast

It started with an hour long pre-show that lasted some hour and 15 minutes (the band was late).

Some interesting interviews, some stupid ones. Metallica's new clip St. Anger was shown. It's.... lacking. The Metal isn't all there. The riffs are unclear, the bass lane is unfelt, and there are no solos, intros or what ever. Instead of a proper solo, we get a 20 sec riff only

                    As for the show:

They played only Frantic and St. Anger from their new singles.

They played only old stuff: Lots of Kill Em All, Lots of Black, Lots of Ride the Lightning (why don't they ever play "Fade to Black?"), lots of Master. 2 Justice (no "brutal" stuff, only blackend and one.

                    Absolutely no Load, Reload.

The new bass player is good. Also moves good, while James for the most part... doesn't move alot. At times he just looked... old. But he got better towards the end.

Ulrich is baldening (sad for a former long hair rock start.) Infact I suspect it was him that demanded the other group members to cut their hair short, or else he'd be the only Metallica member unable to have long hair

Frantic is more musical and metal like than St. Anger but.. the lyrics are... lacking. Just too damn cheerfull and considerate and "i've just come back from rehab therapy and put thier lessons into song" type of ****.

You just can't sing along with a song that is so ... I'm not sure if I would use the word gay, but I won't since it might hurt somebody.

James made some wierd remarks. "Do you like to be alive?" crowd roars: yeah. James: "Me too" crowd: ???

He needs some time to get over hugging therapy.

They played as well as usually, especially the older songs (written with cliff) in which the bass is really felt good.

James asked the crowd what did they think of the new songs. Most hailed, but when he said: "Who didn't like it?" some hailed back

The crowd was not always into it. Some would say they weren't the usual metallica crowd. Some were, but many were not, as most songs were not picked up by the crowd in most cases.

At one point James joked and asked the crowd to be silent during a song. The crowd took him on his words. Then during the song, James pleaded the crowd to sing along, promising he was only joking earlier.

All in all - they need to take James off the "happy pills", and give him some youth hormones.

And they must, must must have at least some songs with a solid metal structure (and not pop/nu structure as the two new songs I heard) on their album.

there was a lot of short hair scum in the crowd, though...

well who cares about short / long hair?

I let my hair get quite long for a year and so (to look cool and metallica like ) , and only cut it a week ago. It looks neat. It's easier and faster to comb

Are you among the people who claim that metallica sold out once they shaved / showered / cut their hair?

They have some good songs on Load.

I never claimed them to be my favourite or being thrash / speed metal.

They're something around heavy rock or .. country-heavy-metal.
