      Re: Survey on Vacuum Cleaning

      Here are the questions:

      1) Do you own a vacuum cleaner?

      Yes

2a) Do you vacuum clean yourself?

      Yes

2b) If not, who does the vacuum cleaning in your household?
2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it?

It's not the worst hosehold chore to do.

      3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned?

      Once every 2 weeks maybe.

4a) Do you vacuum clean the entire house in one time, or do you only vacuum clean parts in one time?

Both. If I do it more often it's usually only a part that needs it.

4b) Can you give an estimation of how much time you (or the person responsible) spend on vacuum cleaning?

      Probably 10 minutes per session.

      5) Are there specific influences that cause you to vacuum clean more often, e.g. pets or environment (open windows, dusty living area et cetera)?

      Yes.

6a) Would you or your household be interested in a robot vacuum cleaner that does all the vacuum cleaning trouble for you?

Not really, then I'd probably have to clean more of my stuff off the floor rather than just vacuuming around it

6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine?
6c) Besides convenience/efficiency, would you have other motives to buy such a machine, e.g. trendiness, health (weight and low height of normal vacuum cleaners causing physical problems for instance)?

Laziness is the only real motivation there.

        1) Do you own a vacuum cleaner?

No, but there is one in the house that we rent.

2a) Do you vacuum clean yourself?

        Yes

2b) If not, who does the vacuum cleaning in your household?

2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it?

        Not much.

        3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned?

When it gets so bad I feel I have to do something about it.

        Bits at a time.

4b) Can you give an estimation of how much time you (or the person responsible) spend on vacuum cleaning?

Hard to say. Half an hour a week? Maybe an hour including what others do.

        5) Are there specific influences that cause you to vacuum clean more often, e.g. pets or environment (open windows, dusty living area et cetera)?

        After a party.

6a) Would you or your household be interested in a robot vacuum cleaner that does all the vacuum cleaning trouble for you?

        Yes!

6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine?

        £200

6c) Besides convenience/efficiency, would you have other motives to buy such a machine, e.g. trendiness, health (weight and low height of normal vacuum cleaners causing physical problems for instance)?

No, it'd purely be for reasons of laziness.

To throw some more chaff in your survey, I DO have the robot vacuum cleaner, and I love it.

Yes, it is primitive. Yes, I have to empty the lintrap every time I use it. But hell, it's an incredible feeling to come home to a freshly vacuumed apartment each day...

I was suprised about the psychological impact that had...

I spent $200 on my roomba, and when Roomba II comes out I'll probably upgrade.
