  • Survey on Vacuum Cleaning

For a university project, I need some consumer feedback again.

This time it's about the ever-exciting activity of vacuum cleaning.

I've composed some questions, and I would appreciate it if you took some time in answering them.

    Here are the questions:

    1) Do you own a vacuum cleaner?

2a) Do you vacuum clean yourself?
2b) If not, who does the vacuum cleaning in your household?
2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it?

    3) How often does vacuum cleaning take place in your household?

4a) Do you vacuum clean the entire house in one time, or do you only vacuum clean parts in one time?
4b) Can you give an estimation of how much time you (or the person responsible) spend on vacuum cleaning?

    5) Are there specific influences that cause you to vacuum clean more often, e.g. pets or environment (open windows, dusty living area et cetera)?

6a) Would you or your household be interested in a robot vacuum cleaner that does all the vacuum cleaning trouble for you?
6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine?
6c) Besides convenience/efficiency, would you have other motives to buy such a machine, e.g. trendiness, health (weight and low height of normal vacuum cleaners causing physical problems for instance)?

    Thanks in advance

      1) No

      2a) No
      2b) Mother
      2c) No

      3) The grammar of that sentence is confusing, but if you mean how often the house is cleaned using the vacuum then the answer is twice a week.

4a) Downstairs first, then a break, then upstairs. Usually both parts in the same day.
      4b) Hmm ... about 2 hours a week?

      5) Cat hair (when they are moulting) requires some extra vacuuming.

6a) Not really. Don't think it would clean everything (like in little corners) so you'd have to go around and do the bits it missed anyway.
6b) Same price as a regular mid-range vacuum cleaner (whatever the hell that is )
6c) It being less heavy than a normal vacuum would be a big advantage.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

          1) Do you own a vacuum cleaner? No.

2a) Do you vacuum clean yourself? Partly
2b) If not, who does the vacuum cleaning in your household? It's shared.
2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it? I enjoy a clean carpet.

          3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned? Once a week.

4a) Do you vacuum clean the entire house in one time, or do you only vacuum clean parts in one time? Parts
4b) Can you give an estimation of how much time you (or the person responsible) spend on vacuum cleaning? 10 mins a time

          5) Are there specific influences that cause you to vacuum clean more often, e.g. pets or environment (open windows, dusty living area et cetera)? No.

6a) Would you or your household be interested in a robot vacuum cleaner that does all the vacuum cleaning trouble for you? Would be too pricy.
6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine? The same as a machine costs now plus t*w where t is time spent per week vacuuming and w is the available wage of the vacuumer.

6c) Besides convenience/efficiency, would you have other motives to buy such a machine, e.g. trendiness, health (weight and low height of normal vacuum cleaners causing physical problems for instance)? So long as it didn't start chewing wires and new how to shout "life your feet up" and move tables and so forth..

            - Yes.

2a) Do you vacuum clean yourself?
            - Yes
2b) If not, who does the vacuum cleaning in your household?
2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it?
            - Not Particularly ... it's too noisy. Though it is good when I can have the stereo full bore to muffle the vacuum out .

            3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned?
            - ~4 times/week.

4a) Do you vacuum clean the entire house in one time, or do you only vacuum clean parts in one time?
            - Entire house, everytime.
4b) Can you give an estimation of how much time you (or the person responsible) spend on vacuum cleaning?
            - ~half and hour, for the entire house.

            5) Are there specific influences that cause you to vacuum clean more often, e.g. pets or environment (open windows, dusty living area et cetera)?
            - My extreme allergy to dust mite.

6a) Would you or your household be interested in a robot vacuum cleaner that does all the vacuum cleaning trouble for you?
            - Yep.
6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine?
            - No more then for an ordinary vacuum.
6c) Besides convenience/efficiency, would you have other motives to buy such a machine, e.g. trendiness, health (weight and low height of normal vacuum cleaners causing physical problems for instance)?
            - For the joy of seeing the cat chase it .

Edit: The robot must however also vacuum upholstery and curtains and such.

Thanks for the responses so far.

I believe the average price of a vacuum cleaner (or Hoover ) is around 200 euros over here. That is about the price we are looking at for the robot vacuum cleaner.

              And yes, the product "sucks"!

2c) Does the person who is vacuum cleaning enjoy it? It needs to be done, regardless whether one enjoys it. So it is emotionally neutral.

                      3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned? 2-3 times a week.

4a) Do you vacuum clean the entire house in one time, or do you only vacuum clean parts in one time? Both.

6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine? Oh...

Well, maybe a $100.00 We're cheap around here.

of course, not. But it doesn't matter.

                          3) How frequently is there being vacuum cleaned?
                          1 time a week.

Generally, the desire to live in a clean house. The dust, and the dog hair just amplifies it.

yes, but I doubt it could, since it would have to raise carpets, and go behind sofas.

6b) If so, what would you be willing to pay for such a machine?
                          I dunno.

I hate the back ache. But that's rather marginal.
