'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

I prefer the old days, when carriers where named for famous revolutionary battles. Naming ships after presidents is just wrong. Naming it after Bush is even worse. A one term-loser. No ship should be named after a one-term pres, unless he died in office.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I think the Reasoning behind it was that he was a Naval Aviator in WW2.
I think Lexington is a good name for a new Carrier.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.
Why not states? I know it used to be for Battleships, but it was fine. We could have the USS Utah...Well, OK, not Utah, but other state names were cool.
Or animals..I mean, USS Lion? We had the Wasp once, that was a good name.

I think us Canadians have the market cornered on horrible ship names...
What could strike more fear into the hearts of the enemy than... the HMCS Corner Brook!
Watch out for the HMCS Glace Bay!
Look out! The HMCS Ville de Quebec is on the horizon!
The only names that we have that approach anything resembling cool are the Preserver and le Protecteur, and they're just oil replenishment ships!
