Some of the opinions here are insanely ridiculous.

What's this deal about "punishing" China? Yes, take away free trade and take away American investments. Cut adrift from the world, the Chinese government would only become more repressive; the Chinese people would only become more ignorant. It's not like this hasn't happened before. But some people just never learn their history.

Your logic is baffling. Something is wrong - so to punish the problem, let's make it worse! Let's punish the next fire in your kitchen with gasoline! Surely the fire will be offended and then go out by itself.

I'm just happy that it's not people like you running the American government and corporations. Ending the "most favored nation" status indeed.

Poor silly humans. A temporarily stable pattern of matter and energy stumbles upon self-cognizance for a moment, and suddenly it thinks the whole universe was created for its benefit. -- mbelleroff

Tell me, TMM, what grave crimes did the people in an Afghan wedding possession commit so that bombs were dropped on them?

They did nothing, it was an unfortunate accident due to our forces misinterpreting their small arms fire.

        Your turn!
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

So that does not constitute as gross violation of human rights?

No, it doesn't. Did your mother cook standing next to a broken microwave while pregnant with you?

I hope they remember those four guys when that happy day arrives in which the CCP's stranglehold on power is finally broken. I fervently hope I live to see that day.

Almost as long as these young men waited to hear that they will be spending the next 10 years in prison for nothing. It is quite likely that one or more of them will not live to see the light of day again, given the mortality rate in Chinese prisons.

                            Notable chiefly as an exception.

Also, perhaps you weren't aware that there was a major scandal over this, complete with lots of highly critical news coverage and the presiding judge publicly chastizing the FBI for it's conduct. Can you imagine a similar reaction in China over the four college students?
