Just to let you guys know, I believe this is correct, it is something like 3% of the richest pay 70% of the taxes. This country is not and was not based on socialism, the reason guys like Bill Gates excel is because there are rewards, primarily monetary, otherwise why take the initial chance.

Taxes were initially only on the rich. Thus, they have had more time to figure out how to work there way around them, get into office to protect their loop holes and interests.
I have no problem with that... Especially since they still pay more.

How many gov't agencies are even needed and how layered are they, the Fed gov't is not supposed to be the States largest employer. An absolute overhaul audit of the Fed budget also needs to be examined right down to the smallest and start cutting.

The rich paid more taxes back then, didn't they? And capital was still invested in the software industry.

I'm with John Mcain on this one. A 20% across the board cut in spending for every program except Social security. This includes military spending as the waste, fraud, and abuse is out of this world.

My assets are very diversified... and they are down across the board. I wish I could be part of the grand mass of stupidity that is the Republican constituency. That way, I wouldn't be as pissed off... ignorance being bliss and all.

You're gonna catch a lot of hell for this one, so just to help you out let's make 1 correction and a link, OK?
Not "70% of the taxes" but rather "70% of the Federal Income Tax." Big difference.
"you do realize that most 401k's don't let you diversify"
Actually, not having a 401(k) plan that craptacular, I don't know that at all.
