Zaphod: travel from Maastricht to London and back should be pretty cheap as well, you really should check on that (as well as other nearby airfields), you might be pleasantly surprised.

I think we pretty much settled on the 8th, that's what Zop and I have based our plans on anyway...
But it'd be great if you could come: we'd have the winners of all 3 football predictions competitions (UC, CL and combo) together and could celebrate our victories

Fair enough, I have noticed the crap prices myself...now it actually seems to be cheaper for me to go to Manchester and fly to Schiphol rather than catch the ferry...seems crazy that going half the distance in the other direction and coming all the way back is actually cheaperOriginally posted by Zopperoni

I just checked the ferry service from Rotterdam to Hull, and the times are quite bad (only 2100 in the evening), and the price is even worse (~150 euro per person) o_O

Yeah, it's weird how that works. I'll actually be paying like 3 times more on the train ticket from Eindhoven to my home town of Hengelo (~100 km) than I'll be paying for the flight from London to Eindhoven (~400 km).
And then to think that I'm getting a 50% student discount on that train ticket as well...Comment
