Evolve AI systems that are far superior to human intellect, with benign intent. Install them in advisory (not executive) positions.
It wouldn't solve all the problems at once, but it might give us a clue where we are going wrong.
Some cry `Allah O Akbar` in the street. And some carry Allah in their heart.
"The CIA does nothing, says nothing, allows nothing, unless its own interests are served. They are the biggest assembly of liars and theives this country ever put under one roof and they are an abomination" Deputy COS (Intel) US Army 1981-84
The rest are incomparible, since there was no effective technology to rule the entire earth, then.
It doesn't exist now, either. But it's possible. More Technology will allow for more centralization, which would allow for a government of the same centralization to control large territories, and larger populations.

The US was living pretty good life between those years. Guess what happened? A dramatic rise in domestic terrorism. Had 911 not happened, we might actually have a legimate chance of civil war in near future.
Both Rome and Tang China had no credible external enemies, yet both imploded through a series of civil wars.
Centralization won't help, unless a version of North Korea is imposed on the entire world. In that case, do you even want that peace?
Oh COME ON! you call a bunch of fringe lunatics a threat to the US? They have no future, esp since they're domestic. Al-Quida hides in the hellholes of earth, where will those guys hide? Idaho?
If people like the Unabomber ( which wasn't a classical terrorist ), or TMcV would continue to operate, new bills and laws would be passed that would have Feds all over those terrorists' asses.

I'd outlaw violence...but obviously that's rather...umm...unrealistic, to say the least....
actually I would legalize violence.
Think of it this way, if ur sooooo used to mass killing and destruction, you'd think ur living in a life of peace if people killed each other say, 3 times aday as opposed to 50 times.
It would be like sitting next to jackhammer then sitting next to a soft humming Computer cooling fan.
"peaceful".... that is kinda subjective term if u think about it

Actually, I think that humans could survive in Antarctica. But only on the peninsula. You hunt the critters ( Easy!! The ****ers barely move! ), and heat yourself by burning their body fat. You have rocks for tools, and Ice ( not sea Ice! ) for drinking water. It's manageable. But chances of leaving the place are rather slim, since there is no building material to build a raft, or whatever, from.
Do what some eskimos do and make a boat out of whale bones and animal skins. It's amazing how little people can get by on when they really have to.
How would I make the world a better place? I'm tempted to say kill all the communists ( ) but since they really don't harm anyone these days I'll have to go with kill all the religious fundimentalists.
Interesting Zero, that's more or less what happens in places where civil wars are going on or crime is rampant...since violence is "permitted", people DO think that they live in relative peace when the rate of killings/murders goes down...
But anyways, for example I could sure as heck tell you that my anarco-libertarian/over-extrovertive/highly instinctive/spoiled brat of a brother isn't the least bit peaceful, without being subjetive.....
