Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy.

Simpsons. Not that South Park isn't good. It has moments of sheer brilliant greatness. But overall, the Simpsons still wins.

The Simpsons' 300th ( read 302nd ) episode was a case in point in just how unfunny the Simpsons has become. A total waste of 25mins of my life actually waiting to find one of the "jokes" funny.
Can't believe they cancelled Futurama whilst continuing to make the Simpsons. *sigh*

I stopped watching Simpsons from telly after that horrible horrible episode where that judge tethers Homer to Bart. From what I've seen from downloading episodes from the Internet, it didn't get much better afterwards, either. Exceptions: The marijuana episode and the internet cartooning episode - marijuana episode was good and internet cartooning episode was brilliant, especially with the digs at "kids' cartoons that's also suitable for adults" ("I've got a date with *Sarah* *Jessica* *Barker*!")"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

True enough, the Simpson's can't reach its previous heights of glory. It's still frequently amusing, but it's not the show it was, say, seasons 2-7.
On the other hand, South Park had about one half of one good season. Once the novelty of seeing little kids spout obscenity wore off, the show stopped being funny for me.
I know not what others may say, but as for me, Simpsons!Better living through tyranny

For all the artistic talent in South Park, it may as well be a radio show. Definitely some good satire, but I can't condone the animation.
Simpsons, all the way."The French caused the war [Persian Gulf war, 1991]" - Ned
"you people who bash Bush have no appreciation for one of the great presidents in our history." - Ned
"I wish I had gay sex in the boy scouts" - Dissident

South Park, though it's started sinking into the same trap that the Simpson's fell in, where it spends more time poking fun at itself than poking fun at something worth mocking. "Lol, Rupert Murdock sure is rich!" "Rofl, Fox sure does suck as a network!" "Roflmao, we already had this alien episode before, we're starting to repeat ourselves!" Yeah, ****ing hilarious.<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures</p>

I did like them making fun of the reality show promo's scrolling across the bottom of the screen. For a sec, I thought it was a real promo till Homer reached out and ate it.
And some of that making fun of themselves can be funny if used sparingly and not over done. Like the end of the cult mind control episode where they're sitting down watching tv afterwards saying how happy they were to be able to think for themselves again..... while watching fox. It didn't need for them to chant Fox, just showing them watching it would have been good enough. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Used sparingly, those can be some of their best jokes. I'll never forget the time that Homer says "Oh Lisa [or maybe it was Bart? Whatever], cartoons don't have to make sense," at which point another Homer walks past the window. I was in tears.
Overdone, it sucks, and it sucks hard.<p style="font-size:1024px">HTML is disabled in signatures</p>
