I don't know about that, Ned. Don't draw conclusions based on one article.

I've seen similar stuff before in the Arab press. Every once and a while somebody writes up a "voice of reason" type editorial. You also can often find articles that criticize the lack of democracy & modernity in Arab society, and the seemingly impotent Arab intellectual elite.
