I have been in only two altercations, one as a little kid, whci I lost cause the other kid smahsed his lunchbox on my head, and the other in middle school when someone took my bookbg and threw it over a fence. Since the fight took plac right in front of some teachers, it ended very quickly, no winners.

Thankfully, since then I have never been in any situations were fighting was even remotely likely.

Tricky against multiple opponents who are in fighting crouch... But thanks for the advice.
My advice for fighting multiple opponents - buy a good handgun and shoot their asses. If 2+ people are coming after you, I'd say there's a reasonable expectation of grievous injury or death.

Yeah, that would have to be my strategy as I would find out your decent striking compared to mine . I don't think I'd go for the guillotine too easy, but guard maybe.

I usually only sprawl against shoot, Shamrock style as my great idol . I'm not that good naturally in it, but I can hold on for a while, though against superior striker it's not that great. I don't see myself submitting you at all, so I'd have just go for GnP and try to work my way to half mount. I hate mount position, so I'd try to go for 69 and knees to the head, Heath Herring style, but it all depends if I can get good shots in and get out of that guard but.. What am I talking about? I got completely carried away. I give you a secret tip, if you are decent on top, you want to come into my guard, it's not that good .

But you would trash me in stand up.. plus I haven't been very active in a long time, so .. you're really over estimating me.

I have pretty good submission defense, but you never know. Like I said, I've lost a lot over the past year. GnP is sorta my thing too, though - I'd rather beat someone senseless than submit them.

Definitely. I don't like full mount either, never have. I prefer either side mount or fighting from the bottom in guard. I've caught people more than once with a high guard that transitions to a kick in the face. "Oh, so you're trying to decide whether to look for the armbar or the triangle? Well, how about a nice kick in the nose instead"

No, buying a handgun is out - the prices on the black market are ridiculous, and it's an automatic 5 years in the slammer. What I have invested in is some body armour (totally legal here) and a few sets of paraboots.

Most multiple groups of drunks aren't the problem - it's when the little tykes have been practicing in concert I have problems.

It always keeps surpising me how willingfully these guys risk getting kicked in the face when they're on the top maybe standing and trying to do something.

Most people don't think that the guard is offensive, and certainly not offensive in terms of striking. Easily exploitable misconception, that.

Very true. People without experience think you lost if you are on your back, when they don't realize that might be exactly what you want and they can be the ones controlling and make the attacks. But even in pro circles, like in Pride for example, fighters with experience and skills seems to be going so close basically asking for getting kicked in the face.. and they often do get it too.
I remember Sakuraba vs. Allan Goes.. that Brazilian guy. He basically punished Sakuraba with continuous kicks from the position and Sakuraba didn't know what to do, it was kind of ironic and funny scene.

I've never been in a REAL fight. A couple of minor altercations, and once a couple of punches, but never anything really serious.

Final post - I live in one of only 2 areas in the UK where armed police patrols are routine. This is due to the high number of shootings in the area. The really clued-up search engine folks can now narrow my location to 1 of 2 areas - big deal.

However, none of these shootings has resulted in a fatality in the past 3 years. Guess they're not very good at aiming.

This is my final post on this forum.

Pekka, I just remember what Royce Gracie did to Kimo from the guard - grabbed him by the hair and punched the hell out of him.

Heck, if you want a gun just go to TJ and you can buy a saturday night special for around $30 but don't blame me when the thing blows up in your hand. Post 9/11 it would be a lot hard to get back north as well. I can remember the good old day when if you were white they didn't even bother to ask you for ID much less search you for drugs or weapons.
