Many people didn't know of the German atrocities that were happening and had no idea about what was to come. Hitler was actually getting praise from many about the job he was doing in rebuilding the German economy. My bet would be that he would have had many supporters here on poly circa 1933. Further, I would imagine a large discussion on how capitalism had failed and thrown the world into depression. Communism would appear to be the answer for many during this time. The discussions would have been incredibly interesting and fun to follow.

If this were 1933 Ming would complain about showing too much knee in the babe threads. Hands over knees wouldn't be allowed either.

It would have been a nice time for sure. As most of you might know, back then everyting could be blamed on jews. People would start out with a post, verbally attacking the jews for being the creater of the modern capitalist society and exploiting the people. later on, the same poster would in the same fashion attack the jews for creating and leading the communist movement, a threat to society. many people would think this was in perfect order, those that didn't would be called pinko homosexual jew-lovers.

Btw, in 33 we could still have "which is the best tank" threads, "who´s the next superpower" threads, and nation-bashing threads

Posting on Apolyton would be highly interesting, given that the only thing approaching computers at the time was the difference analyzer (? something like that). I know that I would look forward to the future when we'll finally have punchcards to post with...

FDR may have wanted to get into the war - it doesnt therefore follow that leftists would have supported him. The communist party was generally hostile to western rearmament until German expansion really threatened Stalin - around 1936 or so. They then went anti-fascist, but flipped in 1939 with nazi-soviet pact. At that time for example Pete Seeger wrote anti-war songs, attacking the warmongering interventionists. Of course they flipped back again in June 1941, when Hitler attacked USSR.

                        Trotskyites were consistently anti-war, IIUC.

                        Have a nice day.

if by lefties the poster meant communists and other far leftists, he was in fact quite correct.

If he meant liberals or social democrats he was of course wrong - but then it would be equally incorrect to indicate that all liberals in US or UK opposed Op. Iraqi Freedom.

We would have had many trolls aimed at the commies about the genocide in the Ukraine abround this time.
