One thing I can't understand is why people start smoking:
It smells bad, it tastes bad, it's expensive, it's dangerous, etc, etc - and in the end you don't even get high from it. Why?

I think they do it because they're too stressed or too bored.

Because it does give that euphoric feeling in the beggining and because you think you're immortal when you usually start it.

Afterwards, because your brain cells love it and because of habit and mild relaxation.

Also because if everyone else does it around you, you think it's no big deal.

I've heard great things about the effects of cocaine. It's one of the best drugs out there. I don't do it because it is so addictive.

so why would someone do something they would get addicted to?
I've 'done' most drugs over the years and IMHO the drugs arn't that addictive, its when people have 'addictive' personalities that you get problems

You mean "hard" drugs, or whatever they call them in English. I come from a little village. There was a girl, who used to be regularly raped by here stepfather. This came out years later, his now in jail. The girl is on heroin. Propably taking it to killl her pain. That's only person that's taking "hard" drugs i know personally (or at least used to vaguely know).

I've never done any hard drugs... only pot. It's fun; a different experience.

Because there enjoyable. If people don't enjoy taking drugs and continue to do so (before addiction sets in) then frankly they are idiots
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

For the same reasons people do legal drugs like Alcohol or cigarettes, only they want a MUCH more potent experience.

I drink because it's enjoyable, it's easy to acquire alcohol, and the risks involved are pretty slim and have been fairly well enumerated. I don't do other drugs because they're less easy to acquire and the risks involved (primarily legal risks, though in the case of tobacco the problem is more associated with health risks and monetary impact) aren't worth it to me. I also don't know how enjoyable they'd be, since I haven't tried them. If they legalize pot them I'd certainly give it a try, though.
