    disclaimer: this is on-topic Ming

I have a question for people who dislike the UN. For the sake of argument, lets say the UN is done, finished, kaput! What now? Do we try to create yet another world organization? What do we do from here?
To us, it is the BEAST.

Yeah.. try to create one that actually functions and put effort into it. And furthermore, don't let countries like France or Libya get power.

Don't you think that it should be Democratic? Shouldn't everyone have a voice?

If a country like Libya has a voice in it.. what is the point? The country supports terrorism. And in the past, Muammar Qadafi was responsible for blowing up a plane and other terrorist activities. Certainly he has quieted down in the past decade, but still I wouldn't want his country the head of the security council of something.

By not allowing a country(s), you are effectively cutting off any diplomatic means to accomplish anything. I agree Libya shouldn't be on the Security Council, or human rights council (what a joke), but in America, even the Nazi party is allowed to participate in Democracy.

Oh yeah.. it was the one that was let into the human rights council.... now that is hilarious.

I never proposed cutting Libya off completely... they can be let in with all of the other countries in diplomatic discussions... but not into any higher level part (like the security council) of the organization.

They are on the Human Rights Council in the UN, IIRC.

Well it is different because Libya has a spot in the human rights council right now.

Also the organization must be efficient, and not in the current state of inefficiency the UN is now.

The Human Rights council rotates, doesn't it? I mean, doesn't EVERY country get on it at some point?

When I was working at the European parliament, I wouldn't have hesitated to loot the bars if it was possible, like everybody else.

You can't imagine the horrendous prices this kind of bars serve

Quick question...how many countries participating in the current U.N. democracy are actually democracies?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

About a quarter to a third.
