Should parents be able to name their children, whatever they want?

I've heard many crazy names, from time to time, and I really think there should be a limit for what parents may call their children (or naming them selfes, if they choose to change their name)...

...I've heard about a guy, who like the Play Station that much, so he changed his name to Play Station... I've heard about parents who wanted to name their child Osama Bin Laden, just after the attack on WTC... I've heard there's an official name **** (Guess the word... starting with D ), just take a look at the agent/spy/what-ever-he-was from a movie long time ago... his name was **** Tracy (And he was the leading role in the movie... )... I also heard about someone, who's last name was Lowjob... his first name started with a B

I believe there is a law in Sweden to prevent you naming children with strange names.

In Iceland the law is still that your last name must incorpotrate your fathers first name ie spencersdottar and spencersson.

What do they do if the father is unknown?

Well the Kurds love Bush and that guy was in his right to do that... unfortunately you don't like Bush.

Anyways, In Chile families were naming their kids after corporations.. I think a law stopped that.

Edit: Could the poster Chilean President confirm that for me? I heard of it happening, but am not entirely sure.

They could name their children whatever they want, as long as the names do not scare the kids mentally.

I have seen people with very stupid names, such as "Criminal" and "Moron." (No I wasn't referring to the ACS poster, either).

Sweden should outlaw names like Olaf and Sven. Those names are just begging to get a child teased at school.

I'm going to have to call bull**** on your hearing the names "Criminal" and "Moron".

I love people who give their kids name like "Faith" or "Chastity." It's just asking for trouble.

If by some unhappy twist of Fate I were to ever have kids, I'd name them "Breeder" (boy) or "Harlot." (girl) Then expectations are suitably low.

Kind of a sexist remark, isn't it?
Why can't you name a girl Breeder ?

You can name boys and girls names like Chris, Claude, Robin, etc., so it can also work for "Breeder," now can't it?

Why not "Anarchy"? It's closer in sound to "Chastity", but it encourages rather than discourages self-expression.
