I don't believe they've had a crash in their existence.
They're a good airline but it helps that they service the better weather parts of the country preferentially.

      Yeah, right.
Wind shears and tornadoes don't count for much.

Not all businesses, especially airlines, are.
That doesn't mean they aren't hurting. Profits are low and every report I see sez that if AA goes down, the whole industry's gonna tumble, even Southwest.

BTW, I like flying with Southwest. More room than ATA or UA, and definately less expensive, plus they serve Jax.

          Southwest is excellent.

Compare them to American Airlines in recent days, which btw is headquartered in Dallas.
AA folding would suck wind; like that's needed.

Bunnygrrl's best friend works at United. In both cases, horrible management has screwed the company. BG's friend is a counter person. They and the flight attendant's get paid jack squat. The only decent benefit is is dirt cheap travel. They want wage consession from people on a poverty wage. At least they have a union.

I think icing is the more severe danger. Look at some statistics some time. San Diego has the most extreme flight path in the US (steep descent). But it has never had a major accident. Wonder why? Perfect weather...

                You bonehead.
That is a real logical comeback to "wind sheers and tornados".
Citing perfect weather and no major accidents.

On the plus side, icing can be a danger, that is true; but you can use de-icer on ice.
Wind, of any means, can come up suddenly.

                    OSWELD!

No, overall ice is more widespread, and therefore more of a hazard, I would imagine.

HOWEVER, my phobia is over tornadoes.

BTW, glad your pictures from Olan Mills are ready.

I would like to see these pilots in their interviews for their next jobs.

"So, what made you leave your last job?"

Pilot: "Uh, they didn't like the way I handled my stick."

Pilot: "I failed to adhere to the dress code... I mean, those damn wings hurt!"
                        Monkey!!!

The flight attendant's job is in high demand. The pay is not high. But it increases with seniority (even though performance level goes DOWN). And it is decent for basically schlepping trays. Also, the travel benefits have a real value. And the benefits are decent and better than being a waitress. This is all based on detailed study, Che.

Finally, whenever the airlines post openings for FA positions, they are bombarded with people wanting to do it. Even during the low unemployment years.

When DOES a union worker's performance go up over time?
The more time, in the more secure, and the more they do notta.

                            Generally speaking, of course.

The mechanics' performance goes up over time. They get more surly and such but the job is not a customer service job (like waitress). And experience helps them when they are troubleshooting problems.
