              Hofesh !

Looking through his binoculars, the field commander saw across the river that FCL forces had moved into position . Aerial dogfights had been occuring all day. FCL planes were protecting their boys below very well. But slowly and surely the Audlonina airforce was gaining the upper hand.

Artilelry had been set up now on the banks of the river and were firing on the positions of the FCL troops. ORders were that this would continue for some time.

This was the largest attack since the beginning of the war. The town of Hofesh was not under control yet, as it had many Hive infantry in the streets and the recent movement of FCL oured battalions had strenthened them too.

The south side of town was basically under Audlonina control. And the artilelry was keeping the FCL from moving in any more reinforcements. Booby traps and snipers were the main obstacle in town.

As far as any advance it was impossible til lthe bridges were rebuilt and that wasnt going t ohappen any time soon while the enemy was still so close.

                Concept.!

The Armoured brigades on their way to Concept had received new orders, they were now heading north east to to reinforce the position along the river (Azazal name of river please !!)Concept was well udnr control by Azan and allies .

Once established there , their misison was to try and make a crossing somewhere and then head west again thereby flanking the FCL troops North of Hofesh.

                  West Coast.

Audlonina navy escorted the transports towards the shore, under the cover of darkness the landing craft were dispersed and the 142nd and 245th Armoured Battalions drove ashore whilst the 34th, 45th and 123rd Battalionsof Marines waded in.

A new beachhead was secured North of the Great river leading to Hofesh.

Aboard the command ship NNS Artic Glow, carrying the flag of the Nooslandian 3rd Fleet

Admiral Long entered his secret key that would enable the message to be deciphered. He looked at it quickly and smiled.

"We have just received a new order from Theater Command. We are now going to blockade FCL's seaports, turning back all ships except those carrying food and medicine. Elements of the 2nd Fleet will arrive in several days to assist us in the task.

"Send to all captains. We are going to have a meeting in an hour to discuss the details."

                    Bank of Progress building, Roshem

Commandante Gluckstein got up from his chair when General Vijinee entered.

"General, what can I do for you?"

"Commandante, would you have locals of Tel Zach, After, and various other occupied cities?"

"Hm, no..." Commandante Gluckstein suddenly realised the idea, "but I can probably get them down here if you give me time, from various local resistance forces."

"Thank you Commandante. How long would it take? Say, if we provide transportation, will it be faster?"

                    "Definitely, general."

"Great. I'll arrange it right away."

                      To: Alliance Command
                      From: Theater Command, Noosland

Since Hive removed itself from the conflict, it now appears that the Alliance has absolute naval superiority. As a result, we suggest the implementation of complete blockade of all FCL ports, barring all movement of ships except those transporting humanitarian aid (food and medicine). This should aid in the removal of FCL forces from Azan.

based on last few posts. the below is my understanding of the situation.

Azan forces were west of the River heading to hofesh.

My forces met the Hive on East side of river south of Hofesh and now moved to outskirts.

My 2nd group skirted the mountains and is postioning it self as reserves looknig for a way across if possible

My new beachhead is shown too. Those forces are clearing the country side along coast south to Tel Azan and also Northwards. No major forces encountered as of yet...

                          Port Blacksand, Guardia

Colonel Wu looked on while personnel and equipment of his division were loaded on these huge assault transports. Wu was the commander of Noosland's 2nd Armoured Divsion, the only permanent armoured division of the country. The 2nd, augmented, would spearhead counterattacks against the FCL invaders.

                          Neve Al, Azan

Shortly after midnight, waves of explosions rocked the city, as Free Azan forces poured in from the surrounding areas to attack the FCL garrision. Low intensity fighting had been going on between the garrison and the Free Azan partisans, but there was nothing like this in terms of intensity and coordination.

Multiple battles erupted all across the city, as communication lines, power plants, TV station, water plant, command posts, and other vital areas came under attack. More ominously, cruise missiles were seen used against various FCL targets.

In the FCL HQ, commander of the garrison slammed his fists on the desk. "What's going on?" he demanded angrily.

"Sir, Azani insurgents are attacking us in unprecedented numbers all across the city. Nooslandian special forces are operating with them with surgical strikes. We are bombarded by cruise missiles launched from warships."

Just then the lights shut off. "Damn! Does this mean they have taken the power station?"

"That, or maybe they have cut the power lines."

"How could they take the power station so fast? It was heavily guarded."

                          "Sir, Azani insiders..."

"Argh! Well get the generators working NOW!"

                          "Yes sir."

Several minutes later, the lights came back on.

                          "Inform Tel Zach, quickly."

The operator got on the phone, then stopped. "Sir, the line is dead."

                          "Use the radio then, fool!"

The HQ was rocked by an explosion. Power went out temporaily and people were thrown about. The radio operator got back up on his feet, obviously shaken. He worked with the controls but there was only static.

"Eh, sir, we are being jammed."

The commander slumped into his chair, feeling frustrated. "Get some people out there to look at what's going on!"

                          "Yes sir."

At this point, a runner came in.

"What is it, more bad news?"

"Sir, we have reporters of Nooslanders landed to the south and north of the city, and is now making a pincer."

                          "Oh no..."

                              Hammer and anvil

Somewhere to the West of Neve Al, roughly 15 kilometers away

A silhouette was standing next to a Roamer parked in the middle of nowhere. Under the moon, one could see a lot of vehicle and men waiting in the area. From a distance, a deep rumbling could be heard, and it was drawing closer.

The lead Roamer stopped and a man jumped down. The two persons approached each other and shook hands.

                              "Right on time, Colonel."

"Why, I see that you have been waiting, Colonel."

"Ah, yes, but no more than 5 minutes."

One of them stretched out an arm to point at Neve Al, "Time to head that way."

                              "Yes, lets."

                              Port facilities, Neve Al

Major William Hastings stood at the bow of a fast assault hovercraft, as it was skimming the water towards the port. Up ahead, cracking sounds of small arms, high pitch whirls of mortars, angry roars of explosions, wails and moans of injured persons, and even the occasional launchings of missiles all intertwined into a macabre symphony of the battlefield.

Battalions Tau and Sigma of the 2nd Regiment of the 28th Marine Division had already established a beachhead which was rapidly expanding now that the remaining of the 2nd Regiment had made landfall. The 1st Regiment would land next, and the rest would come in later that night, after returning from establishing landing zones for the 3rd Light and the 58th Mech.

Several godowns had already been commandeered. One was converted to a temporary detaining center while another one became a makeshift field hospital.

The FCL defense along this stretch of the harbour seemed to be light. A lot of the soldiers appeared to be conscripts or green recruits, crumbling entirely at the sounds of gunfire. There were some veterans, but they had been quickly overran.

Strangely, the FCL didn't seem to be expecting this attack. They didn't even defend the coastlines but just huddle up in the occupied cities and towns.

"But tanks do badly in urban combat," thought Major Hastings.

From: Commandante Benyamin Gluckstein, Commanding Officer, Roshem
To: Gabriel Ramon, President of the Republic

                                Gabriel,
The liberation of Roshem is complete. Remaining FCL forces under Colonel Murphy (some 8000 men) surrendered to myself and Givat Yofi Council Military Chair Moshe Meir at 16:35hrs.

The 3rd Infantry Division suffered (relatively) low casualties, as the brunt of the fighting fell on our Karakan allies, who performed admirably under intense pressure. The city's militia's suffered heavy losses in the initial uprising, particularly in the tragic defence of the City-Centre Council, which was crushed early by the FCL garrison. Regrettably, two of the brightest stars of the Old Republic, General Metehan Peretz and Dr. Golda Silverman, were killed in the Council's suppression.

That Colonel Murphy is a commander to be reckoned with. Had he chosen to stand his ground (as so many of his Hive and FCL colleagues would have attempted) and not fallen back into the city, Roshem would have been liberated in the first assault. And had General Frankychan not refused to reinforce him, it is my firm belief that they would be holding Roshem still.

Both the Givat Yofi and University Neighbourhood Councils have pledged their support for your National Government, and representatives will be sent to New Aurora as soon as democratic formations have been established in the rest of the city.

I await your instructions on further deployment.

                                In solidarity,
                                Benyamin
