  • Turn 42 to Madrid.

Oh most fortunate Australians! The light of St Jon will soon illuminate your lives and much rejoicing will there be amongst your people. I trust he will be welcomed upon his arrival at Darwin and that in gratitude for his visit you will grant him leave to travel but a short distance across your lands so that he may bring hope to the poor sad people of Wales.

    Cardinal Le Pecher,
    pp. St Jon the Pure.

      • Demos wrote in earlier posts here that he should be "next-turned" today and tomorrow (today being Moving Day for him) , but that he would be back on Tuesday. So we can presume he'll let us know as soon as he can resume playing, hopefully by Tuesday.

            Esteemed Breaker Morant,

Our Diplomat wishes to return to Greek territories, which will require that he again pass by Darwin, so we now ask for your permission for him to return on the same route by which he came. We pledge that he will not engage in any espionage, and he will not linger. We wish for him to travel without an "express ticket", as he has some exploring to do in Greek lands before he returns to our cities.

Our decision to postpone exploring has come into doubt in Athens, as recent expeditions have come across a wealth of ruins! We will now continue these explorations with all haste.

The prospect of a meeting with the fabled Inca Diplomat has the finest chefs of Naxos preparing a lavish feast. We are pleased that soldiers of war have been replaced by men of peace.

Many thanks to the Greeks for the permission to establish an embassy in their city.

Please Open and End Welsh Turns until Demos posts to advise otherwise. If this looks like carrying on for such a length of time as to prejudice the Welsh Civ then I will appoint a temporary sub.

                • Madrid has finally opened diplomatic relations with Wales!

There has been rapturous applause and spontaneous dancing in the streets of all Spain's cities due to the fact that now we have diplomatic relations with ALL other nations. Indeed, so much so that Inquisitors had to be on standby to 'gently' remind the citizenry to return back to work...! Surely with this type of contact we will be able to avert any diplomatic misunderstandings in the future and avoid the spectre of War.

We believe we are the first nation to achieve this fantastic feat! We sincerely hope that all the other nations of the World follow our shining example!

                  • I believe the diplomatic route between Darwin and Wales has been firmly established, and all diplomatic traffic wishing to use this route are at leave to do so...

It is good to see that the Spanish are so firmly comitted to peace. Our social scientists have created a theorum which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that with all the love and understanding in this world, war is impossible in this world, now and forever! It is a certanity that mankind will always live together in harmony!

With this truth firmly established, we still find our Minister of Defense commissioning a few pikemen "just in case", but we think he is being foolish, as surely these units will never be needed in such a perfect world!

The humble Inca requests permission to set up an embassy in the French civilization of St Jon the Holy. If granted, we only hope that our naval diplomat doesn't get sea sick again!

Be assured, Mythical Incas, that your Envoy will be welcomed in France. I may even allow him to 'Kiss My Ring', an honour seldom bestowed upon any but the most worthy.

                            • Honorable Stavros of the Australians,

The Incan diplomat did not mean any discourtesy. He is very speedy (as I mentioned) and has already come and gone to Brisbane, where his envoy set up an embassy. I apologize, on his behalf, for not stopping by and saying hello. Out of respect for your non-map exchange policy, he did not loiter in your civilization once the embassy was established. He is on his way back home at this time.

Chaos in Greece, as the Tyranny Party contests the election results that put the Theocrats in power so long ago!

A young couple looking for a quiet place for a tryst near Rhodes discovers a ballot box of uncounted votes from that election hidden in some bushes. Apparantly many of the holes in the clay voting tablets hadn't been fully punched, so a hand recount may be necessary. It is expected that this could be accomplished by 785 BC, at which time overseas votes are due to arrive from Phalanxes in Santorini.

Several judges have avoided getting involved in the decision-making by taking hemlock.
