      A thousand apologies!!!

      Unfortunately Tomas de Torquemada had to undertake an urgent pilgrimage to the holy city of 'Glasgow', far to the north...

      He was given very little time to react to this 'test' of faith, and has literally been on the go for two solid days...

      He may have to make another pilgrimage in another two weeks, but only for one day next time...

        Turn 25 ==> Stavros

        (Recieved turns from Jon and Mobius simultaneously, so played turn from Mobius)

        'Heathen Welsh'!? I guess we should expect no less from the puritan himself. Nevermind, I'm sure his Ambassador will succumb to the Welsh virtues of beer and humour!

            Turn 25 to Hextapul

            A siting of Spanish diplomats within the borders of Troy have caused much excitement, as city fathers prepare a lavish welcome for them. Our own diplomat has passed them to the north. as he treks toward the city of San Roque.

            The promise of a diplomat from the French causes more happy anticipation, as our women have heard much about exotic French perfumes, and we are eager to trade for these fragrances. But all we have to offer at the moment are a few barrels of Retsina and some old goat cheese, so we'd better get working on some more appropriate items.

              Turn 25/26 -> St Jon

              My, the Spanish Diplomats are abroad like a swarm of bees, looking for the sweet nectar of the flower of diplomacy. One is proceeding to our city even as I speak. Happily, he does not look like Pizarro though...

              We have provided a suitable escort for the Spanish diplomat, to show him the sights of the lands between our Empires.

              All traces of the former meaning of the Old Incan word 'Saint' has been removed from the Empire. We humbly ask for St Jon to provide Us with a new definition - and We will take other definitions from the other great leaders of the world for this word in question.

              Hextapul has spoken!

                Turn 26 to Madrid.

                The 'Pure One' has chosen to ignore the poisonous barbs of the 'Mythical' Hextupal. The maintainance of a dictionary is better served by those 'Blessed' with a written language!

                  Tomas de Torquemada hopes that the delicate negotiations with the Inca will finally bear fruit this turn and that our nations my prosper together...

                  Spain has been gracious in making significant concessions on her part and expects the Inca Empire to return the favour in kind...

                    Turn 26 ==> Stavros

                    Hextapul,
                    Mouthpiece of the Incan people,

                    Hast thou finalised thy new word for the French zealot St Jon? I didst put notice to the people of Wales in the hope that assistance couldst be provided, but unfortunately all prospective retorts given were fuelled by their love of beer and sheep, and have summarily been deemed unfit for such discourse. Afterall, we would not wish to offend St Jon, especially before he hast had the pleasure of mine hospitality.

                      Turn 26 to Hextapul

                      As we bid a fond adios to our new friend, the Diplomat from Spain, our own Diplomat reports that he is making good progress toward Spanish lands.

                      To our Australian friends we send a message that your lack of contact with the rest of the world is coming to an end, as a Greek diplomat has left en route to your nation, as well as to the nation of the Welsh people. We hope he will be welcome there.

                        Turn -> St Jon

                        Noble Demos

                        Jon has politely refused to add his meaning to the word 'Saint', so the forum is now open for discourse.

                        I will be on a short hiatus this week, to spend time with my lovely wife in scenic Door County WI. (Sunday-Friday) While I am gone, forward turns to phil

                          Turn 27 to Madrid.

                          As the Mythical Chieftan of 'The Savages' is so desperate to learn something of the way civilised peoples communicate with each other I will, of course, answer his Prayer.

                          Many aspire to Sainthood but only a few achieve it for it is to be the very epitome of Purity, Humility and Humanity. A Saint is someone who through holy deeds or behaviour attains the right to veneration and is therefore 'righteous in God's sight'.

                          I hope that this answers your question my child.

                          Love Upon All,
                          St Jon, The Generous of Spirit.

                            There is rejoicing in the streets as diplomacy has yet again been seen to be the manifestation of civilisation...

                            We welcome the Inca as our friends!

                            We also bid welcome to the Australians. We regret that we cannot afford hospitality to your Phalanx within city limits, however any visiting diplomat will know the full meaning of a true Andalusian welcome...!

                              My appologies to the Spanaish, for marching a Phalanx up to the city walls, but those troops can barely see a meter past those ungainly visors. The first they knew of a city is when their spears butted into the walls. Thankfully there was no damage done, and an ambassador will be dispatched immediately to unite our nations in the wonderful world of diplomacy...

                                I've sent the turn to both Hex and his substitute Phil, just in case Hex has time to play the turn before he leaves.

                                Fast turnaround this cycle!
