I had what I felt was a strange thing happen this turn. I've emailed you all about it, but didn't want to stall the game in the meantime...
Turn 1 to Hextapul
My apologies to the esteemed Hextapul for having mis-stated your name. Reliable information is still a rare commodity in this mysterious world, and our scribes had referred to a tablet found in this forum for the proper letter-forms. We now see this tablet was in error, and our records have been corrected.
-------------------------------------------------------
Greetings to the mighty Tomas of Spain! We were delighted to see your envoy this day, and have every wish that we should live as friends and neighbors.
We surmise that we too must not live far from St. Jon (based on your earlier statements), and we have hopes of also making his aquaintance in the near future.
Xenophon

No offense taken, Great Xenophon, since the records were incorrect in the first place, and you had no way of knowing otherwise...
As to the reports of Aztec nomads running though the lands, it is merely a legend from the dim past. There are no Aztecs in this world, though we have been mistaken to be of that noble race. Indeed, Hextapul has been an Aztec in the past in other worlds.
I send greetings to the noble Australians, and hope that their sailors will be able to swim next turn.
Spanish settlers have also been spotted on our journeys, so it seems that the world is occupied after all. My apologies to doubt the existance of others, but as the wise ones say, 'seeing is believing.'
Hextapul has spoken!!

Turn 2 to Brother Tomas.
My Children, I feel that all should know that the spelling of the Noble Inca Emperor's name is indeed accurate according to 'The Book of Jon v.1 c.1'. Heathen tongues are unspoken in the Cathedral's of my disciples but legend does tell of a strange and mysterious people many leagues away led by an unseen chieftan known as 'The Crafty One'.
The very existance of these people has long been dismissed as no more than a myth but the tales of 'The Crafty One' are still told to children as a warning of just what can happen to those who would stray from the path of piety and purity!

Hmmm, Xenophon - wasn't he the originator of the word 'Xenophobia'?
Be that as it may, Catholic Spain welcomes the ratification of the peace treaty between Athens and Madrid...
Great Hextapul, of the Incas - it seems we crossed paths but my foolish settler must not have been looking as we know not from whence you came...
Please accept our peace treaty as a sign of Spanish goodwill - we have heretics to hunt down and 'excommunicate' within our borders, without having to worry about trouble from our neighbours...

Great Tomas de Torquemada,
You ask of the meaning of my name, so let me explain:
My name derives from two Greek words...Xeno for foreign, and Phon for speaking. My name means that I speak foreign languages. Xenophobia, of course, means a fear of foreigners. Quite a different thing, n'est ce pas?
Now the story of how this ability came to be so important for me:
As a young cavalry officer I led my troops against the Persians who were attacking my homeland of Greece. So successful were my attacks, that we pushed those Persians into retreat, and chased them all the way back to Persia itself.
But I am embarrassed to confess that in all the excitement of pusuing the Persians, we neglected to keep track of our direction of travel, and upon victory found ourselves quite lost.
Luckily, I was able to speak many languages, which enabled me to speak with the local people we encountered, and eventually I was able to bring my troops home. Upon reaching the Mediterranean, we beat our swords on our shields and cried "thalassa, thaslassa, thalassa!" which means "the sea". And then we sank to our knees to kiss the sparkling water.
Then I went on to become a statesman and historian, before deciding to lead Greece here in this world.
All of this is quite true, and is written about in histories of my Greece.
Xenophon

Turn 2 ==> Breaker
T'wud seem that Wales is not alone on this world of ours afterall. Already two great nations have we found, and eager are we to establish peaceful, harmonius, and mutually beneficial relationships with our neighbours.
We offer our maps, but as a sign of respect we accept reciprocation.
But be warned, treachery will not be tolerated. And the greatest treachery here in Wales is to steal another man's alcohol. This is why we have already built a mine to harness the fruits of the vine, and we beseach our Australasian neighbours not to attempt to sup from the same cup.
Demosthenes the Drunkard.

Our hardy Australian sailors survived after a dreadfull (if expected) storm sank their ship near the coast of the Aztecs, but thank you for your concern hexagonian. I'm sure we can prove our swimming abilities once the Greek get around to inventing the Olympics....
To my esteemed neighbours the Welsh. Although your request for an exchange of teratorial layout was seen as a binding force between our peoples, the Anarchy of Australia thought it prudent to decline your request, at least until the exploratory phase was over. I sincerely hope that this will not result in any unwanted border disputes in the near future, even if we do seem to be in close proximity...

Turn 2 -> St Jon
World Leaders,
Hextapul knows that all leaders must be clever to succeed, but the virtues of trustworthiness and honesty are His paramount goal. His name is a reflection of these virtues. It breaks His heart, that what is seen as a virtue among the Incans (honesty, integrity, truthfulness) might be seen as craftiness and even evil, among other nations. Now I am being portrayed as some kind of 'bogeyman' to the innocent and impressionable French children - an evil Jerry Lewis, as it were...
It is for these children that He fears for - the prejudices that are taught to them at an early age bloom into hatred later in life.
It is for these, and other reasons such as this, that Hextapul has not chosen to reveal himself yet.
But enough of the small talk, we go onto business...
It is a mystery as to how the Spanish had contact with us too - perhaps they have mistaken us for the legendary race of the Aztecs. Nevertheless, we have accepted the peace proposal of the Spanish nation, for peace is the goal of all people. We have also rescued the Australian sailors that have made it to our shores, and they are currently enjoying the hospitality of our women.
We also congratulate Xenophon for quelling the riots within his cities. The common man does not know how to manage his affairs - that is why God gave us the institution of government. Wise leaders do not let mere men dictate the events in their realms.

Turn 3 to Brother Tomas.
His Purity has come unto his his people and bespoken 'Let not the territorial integrity of France be violated! Tours is a place of pilgrimage for all mankind to offer their devotions unto me, therefore second only to Beloved Paris in Sanctity, and must never become other than a City of peaceful Worship'.

Turn 3 ==> Breaker Morant
A strange message was delivered to the Welsh people today. The message was unintelligable to us heathen Welsh. Some have called the language German.....
Perhaps when our new government is realised, the government of the lord, then this strange message will be deciphered.

The people rejoyce at the crowning of the first king of Australia. King Stavros the 0th.
There was to be great feasts all through the land, but the rations are too low.
There was to be dancing in the streets, but all the entertainers are out ploughing the fields.
There was to be a great tournament, to prove the worth of our armed men, but all of the knights are out scouting the land.
There was to be a great exhibition, displaying the greatest inventions of our scientists... but they have as yet to invent any....
Time goes by in the Kingdom of Australia, as the people wish for better times....

Turn 3 to Hextapul
We send out a message of congratulations to a people of whom we have only heard tales from travelering merchants and pilgrims:
Hail King Stavros! May your people find much happiness as you take the throne!
--------------------------------------------------------
And is it possible that the legendary people we have heard called the Welsh may be designing a new form of governing themselves? That would be a splendid thing!
--------------------------------------------------------
Here in Greece, we work from dawn to dusk as we try to make a better life for our children...
