    • Turn 55 ==> Jon

Turbulent times. My UN Peackeeper is making his way as quickly as possible over to the disputed war-torn area. The Welsh need to see these incidents for ourselves as their appear to be a large amount of conflicting stories.

      • Turn 55 to Caligula.

City has been evacuated and I trust that you will reciprocate as promised by withdrawing from the renamed City of Pachahamac.

Why do my Assyrian Brothers illustrate such hostility with their refusal to share cartographic information?

This mysterious 'Riot Syndrome' is really beginning to annoy me! What is unique about this game that this strange bug should only manifest itself here?

        Let Peace Rule.

As you have upheld your side of the bargain - so do I...

Assyria congratulates the Emperor as he enters the Modern Age, but hopes the towering skyscrapers he will now surely make won't totally replace the charming plazas and fountains of Rome.

We will remember to assemble cartographic materials to trade with our Incan friends during our next communique; things have been a little hectic lately as yet another city succcumbs to this rioting malady.

And we must apologize to the Pharaoh, for our ship has been diverted to ferry status for some of our settlers who are too impatient to walk, but our shipyard will have a shiny new vessel ready soon for our Diplomatic mission.

The Egyptians have now entered the modern age acquiring Railroad in exchange for the Egyptian knowledge of Chemistry. We thank Emperor Caligula for the wise offer.

I trust my neighbour will both accept my Peace Treaty and welcome an Inca Ambassador?

                  • Truly Rome welcomes the Railroad age with open arms - The first stations along the Trans Roman Railway have already been inaugurated by The Imperator himself!

Friend Jon of the Incas, we have accepted your peace offer - may it bring good relations between our two peoples!

Of course your Diplomat is welcome once again to our border town of Aquila...!

Further to the Incas questions about the riots - we routine incur unexplained spontaneous celebrations around our Empire, usually one or two per turn...

Are there any amoungst us who have NOT suffered this phenomenon - perhaps if there are, we might get some way to understanding the nature of this problem...?

Another day, another riot. As luck would have it, they only seem to last one turn, and don't appear to hit the same city twice.

                      High Priest Jon:
Our valiant soldiers have saved the life of one of your settlers. Tonight, Assyrian military units were chasing down a Barbarian Warrior in our southern territory. He is a very dangerous Barbarian, for years ago he killed one of our Phalanxes, and he may have been the culprit who killed the Pharaoh's Diplomat. Unexpectadly, they came upon your settler wandering alone toward the Assyrian border. He was about to be attacked by a SECOND Barbarian, when I gave the order, and both Barbarians were slain. Without our protection, he would surely have been killed!

Our units then escorted your hapless settler back to Cahauchi, where he is, we presume, telling a breathless tale.

Please do not fear our units, who will rest on your doorstep until morning, and then depart to Assyrian lands.

                      Your helpful neighbor,

                      King Rick

Congratulations to King Rick both for valiantly bringing to justice a group of international outlaws; and for acquiring the Knowledge of Railroads. It is the Pharaoh's hope that soon all nations will be bound by these great bands of steel.

The Welsh are yet to learn the craft of steel lines, but we are working on it, so it shouldn't be to long now.

The Assyrian Government took pollution readings today and noted that Assyria is now guilty of contributing to the world's total output. Our pride at our rapidly growing production is tempered by a concern that we must monitor global pollution lest it come to harm us all someday.

Meanwhile, we have just signed a peace treaty with High Priest Jon, but while we understand the unease of the Incan people after their recent wars, we are insulted that the very heroes who saved your settler should receive a demand that they leave as if they were but common trespassers.

Thus, we have no interest in honoring your request for a map exchange at this time, and likewise, we refuse the "No Trespassing" demand of High Priest Jon. We do however leave Incan lands of our own volition, for we do not wish to be where we are not welcome.

We were surprised at the lack of civility exhibited by the Incan leader during the recent "Embassy incident", but we now fear that it was no isolated incident.
