    Turn 91/92 -> Sophix

    Perhaps the people of Australia could be persuaded to take up an offering of gold for the Native Americans. It is a thought to consider...

    And perhaps we have misjudged the Roman people. A noble gift indeed - although repentance often comes in the pits of despair.

        Turn 92/93 -> Sophix

        The Mayan government feels that despite our differences of opinions regarding the war against the Romans, we hold the Australians in high regard. Indeed, they were valued trading partners while we held the Labyrinth.

        Had that Australians been the first to attack the Romans, the Mayans may have also beeen slow to join the fray. Who's to say what would of happened had we been in their shoes.

        Irregardless, we await the arrival of the Australian diplomat with anticipation and joy. To hear the sermonizing of a native of Australia in person will be a pleasure. We do hope that the diplomat will be as clear-spoken as the vaunted St Jon.

        We do require that the Australian fleet arrive at a predetermined city, so our stewards will be prepared. As you already have our maps, I will notify you which city will be honored with the great task of greeting the diplomat.

        As per policy imposed upon the Mayan diplomat, the Australian diplomat will be allowed to set up an embassy and then he will be required to leave.

          The Australian 'Disciples' are deeply concerned at what they perceive as subtle hostility from the Maya. Sarcasm is detected, which is deeply offensive to all humanity, for who is to complain that 'The Guiltless One' should plead for mankind to enjoin in, love and cooperation, and, openess and honesty!

          Advance notice of the desired point of arrival for our Envoy would be appreciated so as to prevent any delays or misunderstandings. The World is bad enough with 'The Beast' without any squabbles between friends arising due to confusion over a diplomatic itinerary.

          Our friends and allies would do well to remember that Australia is their, and the World's, friend. We have endured the massive suffering and loss of War as have you, we are your brothers!

          Love to you all
          St Jon.

            The very idea of sarcasm is a foreign concept to those of the Mayan Race - it has been said, in fact, that the Mayan people lack a sense of humor. We speak only what is truth, and know no other way.

            If we all would spend more time speaking the truth plainly, needless conflicts would be avoided...

            Indeed, the Australians were willing to allow the Mayans to set up an embassy there - and we are compelled, as a gracious and honourable people to allow the Australians the same courtesy.

            Nothing more or nothing less.

              Your reasons seem fair Noble St Jon, and as one of your ships has now docked on Welsh coastline I understand your actions.

              Safe passage my friend.

              Hmmm, TAFKAB's 'Suicide Squad' has disappeared. They may well have come to their senses and sought refuge in the nearest town, or they may well be attempting suicide at Caeserea. The Welsh Intelligence Service Elect (The WISE) will have a full report next turn.

                    The Romans do seem to have been misunderstood.

                    The Australians gold has yet to arrive.

                    Apart from that - life goes on.

                      The Mayans kindly request that the Australians proceed to the city of Uaxactun to establish an embassy there. He will have to leave after establishing the embassy, unless the Australians are willing to give some gifts to the Mayans to help defray the costs of said diplomat.

                      The Mayans also welcome the Assyrian diplomat - he is welcome to establish an embassy, but he will have to leave as soon as he is done establishing the embassy. Perhaps we can come to a agreed map exchange in the near future - as well as some science gifting and exchanging - BTW, I notice that you are in need of some science.

                      • The Australian Diplomatic Mission has been directed to Uaxactun as requested. Our Diplomat will depart upon the successful establishment of full formal relations.

                        Why is it that both the Maya and the Indians have decided that Australia is owing of some of debt? We gave gladly of our knowledge but have no more to give and Australia is the poorest of nations barely able to pay her, entirely free, workforce enough to live upon. There appears to be a misconception that Australia enjoys great riches when she is but a poverty stricken nation of subsistance farmers and factory workers.

                        End your wars brothers and sisters that we too might send our soldiers home to better the lives of our people!

                        The World asks much of us already that we should have to take up peace keeping missions in 'The Land of the Beast' without regarding us as both a font of free knowledge and a line of free credit.

                              I'm sorry for the misunderstandings arisen with the Australians. The legend of Australian Gold was seemingly a result of the mistranslation of the sentence "anything I can do you just need to ask". Now this has been resolved we can move on from this myth.

                              Secondly there was a person impersonating an Australian diplomat in our western territories. Despite asking through the international community (see previous posts) about this man’s intentions the Australians chose not to recognise him and must therefore assume him to be a spy - I think the Australians should be aware that such an impostor is abusing their great name and saintly reputation.

                              Fortunately the Latin nation has been true to its word - thanks mate.

                              • Australia is being falsly accused by the Primitives. The important word was 'can' and as Australian and Roman levels of scientific advancement have been identical many many turns it meant that we 'cannot' aid you with science. Where the idea has arisen from that Australia is rich I know not but would assume it to be nothing more than Mayan mischief making.

                                As for the placement of a Diplomat on our common border be assured that it is entirely innocent. The NA penchent for Slavery is well known and we have to be prepared for anything.

                                I beg the World to show some sympathy toward the poor suffering Australian people as they struggle in inhospitable terrain and enduring the enormity of expense entailed by maintaining an adequate standing Army. It is the rest of the World that should be offering Australia financial aid as a gesture of thanks for our scrifices to save mankind from death and destruction.

                                St Jon the Magnanimus.
