Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
And I agree with dgardim, I don't like accelerated starts, as I said in my email.
But if we are going to constantly have problems, or it takes 3 days consistently to get one turn of the game played, then obviously we will need to look at the other options available. I like this game, but would also like to finish by 2010.
I also think that we honestly should keep trying to play this game, but as I said, majority will rule on the vote.
I agree, that if we do not do an accelerated start we should keep playing this game.
I can see the promised land over those hills there, it looks plush and green.
wish we could do something about these long turn turn around.
The history of the Japanese people, as recorded by Mog the first:
Damn, this desert is hot, said someone. yeah, I dont much like it here, either, said someone else.
so we're trekking across this huge expanse of desert, we can see plains before us, and after that some hills, and the promise of milk and honey after them hills.
We dont have much of a culture yet, though the other day one of us killed a lizard by smashing it's head in with a rock. This caused quite a bit of excitement.
If only we knew the secret of the Red Flower, then we feel that we could really get some progress done.
hmmm, it seems that one old bearded guy here has been spouting out alot of nonsense about gods and what not. I dont fall for any of that, but it keeps the murmuring down to a minimun.
I just worry that I'll leave our camp one day to forage for food and I'll come back and everyone will be worshiping a gold giraffe or something.
I think we should start a new game, one which utalizes time zones.... Figure out what time zones everyone is, give them an hour, so we can have a garenteed one turn a day for everybody....
"give them an hour"? that wont work. well I have my doubts, i'm willing to give it a try, I personally hate having to adhere to a schedual like that.
though I thought we were organized according to time zones.
I think constant badgering of habitually late turners is in order though.
I am commited to doing a turn a day, or every other day, even, but waiting more than half a week to move my settlers one space is annoying.
what's the hold-up? is it still holiday blues? well that's an excuse, if we can look forward to a faster turn around soon.
I check my mail, pretty much all day long, most of my work is done over ther web, so I'm on alot. (here's my webpage. http://members.aol.com/sporeboy1/index.htm )
Aren't we all commited to checking our mail several times a day, and handing off the turn as soon as we get it? Anything less is disrespectful of the other players, imo.
Sorry but I dont have turn 1.
Then I thought we would start again according to GMT hours???
Then I propose if we are going to play 2 games the same time that the second will be an accelerated one
(Accelereted game: you start with a lot of settlers who have many moves each turn for the first 3 or 4 turns, also you might have some mounted archers with the same abilities. The AI has nothing to do there)
Kris I think I dont get any of your mails !!!
Please do something
I propose this:
1. We start a normal 1.2patch game according to GMT time. Kris would you like me to start this game? You can also create it and then send it to me to start.
Anyway please send mean email to check if something is wrong with our communication.
2. We play test the Dutcheese senario (which is an accelerated start) to see if we like it and then start. Or if someone already has an accelerated start we can try it out.
I dont think there will be a problem to play 2 PBEMs the same time if we want to. What do you think guys???

double check your email, make sure there is no problem on your end Tilemacho. I double checked the email address and have it right according to whats here on this site. I re-sent the turn 1 to you, if you get it, please let me know. Thanks, Kris.
As for your last suggestion, sounds good to me. But u might wish to at least stagger the games by a day.
I guess we do need a re-start given that the times seem a bit messed up. I don't think we should do 2 games at the same time, that's only going to get confusing.
Lets' re-start according to when we're actually available online, everyone just post your times in GMT format and we'll make a list.
Gigantic map seems a bit large, since I'd like to meet some other players sometime before summer, How would everyone feel about using a large map instead, just to get things going?
also, I still vote for an accelerated start, but I understand why people hate them.
large map
few barbarians
few resources (to make resources more important )
accelerated start
young world, with fewer diversity. I love those huge mountain ranges you get this way.
Why not a REGULAR size map, that would make things interesting from the start and promote diplomacy...
Maybe higher than average goods in view of the smaller 'leibensbraum'...
Max the diversity - it'll be no fun stuck in the middle of desert/swamp/glaciers which WILL happen to some people on low diversity - let's cut out the luck as much as possible!
Also max the landmass but keep the oceans high - nothing worse than 4/5 people stuck on the same landmass ekeing out a pitiful existence while the others lord it up on deserted islands... Again this should keep it fairer...
Don't care much about the accel. start thing - is it extra settlers, or does the PC plonk down some cities for you (which I would hate!)? Either way, we'll all be starting on a level playing field...
that's my input... :-)
Also, if we can the other game I take it I can claim a moral victory as I was in a good position and found another settler on the 1st turn - thanks guys! ;-)
I vote for a new game with time as the guide. And have everyone have a set time to go on at, so we get one turn a day.
Tilemacho you wouldn't have to make, you would just have to go last. Then after everyone else has gone it would be; you, kris, mol...ect.
thus creating a perfect time game
