Keygen - pretty sure, it has the correct turn number, my map and such stuff on the load screen. The option I choose is Load Game. If I choose Load Scenario, I can choose any scenario to load, but I got none applicable...

I saved after Jake was killed. It was his turn, and when it transferred back to me, the message Deadly_Jake has disconnected appeared. I saved then, and quit to lobby.

Oh, and despite the fact I was hosting, my files are still under \save\mp.

Yeah, but I found out, that I have the autosave,
of our first game, when i went to load a single player
game!? Do you have any idea, how to put that saved game in the mp directory, and make
        it work?

If you put it in \save\mp\jake it *might* work, but who knows...

Did you check the \save\games\ folder as well?

I remember from my game with Dr. Doom where I hosted, I had to move the saves from the \save\games\ folder to the \save\mp\ folder to be able to load it.

In my game with Yoda where I wasn't hosting my turns were saved into the \save\mp\ folder.

Pete, is there any issue with the saves when saving after the non-host player loses connection?

No the only reason I have seen for this is mods and scenerio creation and or working with one IE creating a map etc. So in other words any time you save something as a scenerio you must reboot the machine. And of course slic commands.

Mind you patch incompatability is also in there but it seems both had the right patches.

My suggestion wipe the game reload CTP in both machines and try again. One or the other CTP could have gotten corrupted.

Checked \save\games, only got stuff in \save\mp.

I know I'd better dish CtP altogether - in fact if I see that PBEM for Civ 3 is popular, I might quit playing CtP PBEM.

I've done that before... I think if you use the 'Launch Editor' button rather than the launch one you can get to the editor under any circumstances (except net multiplay, but you can create a hotseat game, edit it and then load it as a scenario in multiplay).

Well I get this problem in mp and sp. It loads up the taskbar at the bottom (the yellow one) and then just crashes, and the pop-up appears

                            -- repost from elsewhere:

No, sorry to disappoint you, I'm not actually playing CtP1-MP myself - I wish I had the time!

However, I did receive an email with a question from someone who's having problems setting up LAN games.

This person is trying to set up a LAN game on a TCP/IP network (he later tried IPX as well, but nogo on that either), and after following the instructions in the manual, the 'Launch' button is still disabled. He tried it on 5 different PCs with 3 different OSs (Win2Kpro, WinXP, Win98) and all with the same NIC (Ethernet CAT-5).

Here's the relevant part of my reply, do you guys have any further advise/wisdom to share?

[...] To answer your question, can you see other human players when you've created the LAN game? My guess is no, but correct me if I'm wrong. If I'm right, can you see them in the lobby? If you can't get other human players to join your LAN game and you don't see them in the lobby either, the most logical explanation would probably be that there is something wrong with your network settings. Does playing multi-player give you problems for other games as well or is it just C:CtP which is affected?

If you want to play LAN games on your own, this is possible but you should make sure 'Dynamic Join' is enabled in the 'Rules' settings and also, you should have at least 1 AI player in your game. Even if you want to play with several human players this might be a good test: try to set up an MP game on your own and then, once the game is running, let the other player(s) join the LAN lobby and see if they can see your game-in-process and if they can join it. This might at least help in pinpointing the source of the problem. [...]

After my post, Solver replied the following:
Are all those PCs at his home and using Internet Connection Sharing? I mean, the goddarn Network Address Translation might be taking place.

Now, Locutus, you'll not get out of here before you play CtP-MP .
                            Let the discussion continue here...

Solv, I'll ask him, if he doesn't find this thread on his own.

Oh, that's good. I don't plan on getting out of here before the end of the decade, so that means I've got plenty of time

Huh, I did? Oh, I guess I did.

Does it matter? People call me Loc or Wout or whatever all the time (well, Wout only IRL actually) and I abbreviate other people's name all the time as well, I don't even take notice...
