My take on why all Wonders except London's should be in. They're a part of a game, and, unlike Ruins, are an integral part of many strategies. My SP game strategies did depend on building certain Wonders.
Edison's can be got by any civ, and help it even one. Internet is the big catch-up wonder. Stonehege becomes obsolete soon. True, it gives a huge boost, but maybe the boost of Labyrinth is almost as big.
My personal opinion still remains wonders on, but sure I'm willing to listen and I want the rules to suit most people.
BTW, if we play without wonders, we'll need to do something with Slavers. How about no building of Slavers once someone discovers Age of Reason?
