wonders = on (exclude the ones who are unbalanced)
Pollution = definately on (as its a part of the strategy to cope with it, shouldnt be possible to give the fck about pollution and use the old massive production as this strategy then for sure will win ;-) my 0,02$ at least )veni, vidi, vici

well ruins will not show whos the best at the actual map bcz you can get gunpowder or something similar at 1 ad.
Wonders are a part of the game but a couple of them are way too unbalanced and needs to be excluded.veni, vidi, vici

Well, in my opinion there are more than a couple of wonders which can balance the victory. Very early in the game stonehe and labyrinth are very goods even in a map with few goods. Ramayana is very nice too. Special mention to London, Internet, Edison and so on.

Stonehenge is one of the most powerful wonders.... whereas labyrinth, ramanyana and other wonders there affect is undone when the obsolete, the city growth from stonehenge is never undone... I dunno.. I think that this rule should be left to individual games... I think in the event of an argument of whether to exclude or not the one wishing them excluded can pick so say 4 wonders that are excluded... just a thought...
And the Consensus seems to be pollution on, which I agree to, off oversimplifies strategy. He's back after a fashion...

Not that I am in the league of the aforementioned players...BUT I do have my opinions as to a few things, FOOD-4-THOUGHT IFIN U WILL
First,
Pin is one the best as is Gavrushka but both different styles. When I was Patton I got spanked by Pin, maybe about 3 years ago or so, if this is same pin that was in a military overseas, from America that is
Gavrushka taught me some valuable lessons and the of Course Paul and Catete.
I think this is a great setup, where everyone plays everyone!
[Watch out for them thar Jack-boots of Faded Saddam-sad a$$]
As for Wonders, the ancient are nice, but some of these players are gonna make ancient a short age experience, so maybe the wonders that start the game wont be that big of a deal??
I would say that London and Eddies lab are two tough ones and then Internet is of course the poor mans ascience vehicle, let everyone else work for it and you reap the rewards!!!
At any rate, I aint been invited to play would get whooped but just wanted to share these un-solicited,unwarranted but rather important -2-me opinions!!
Great luck and happy hunting!!

Troll you had better add me to your list as I have spanked you many times. You just did not know it was meI even offered you advise many times to which you ignored

But yes Blackice, whomever you represented yourself as, I do appreciate your attempts at teaching me
I hold you, or rather your reputation as high.
IMHO,
Some of the best were
Mr.Black
Dr.Bibber
Quebec
Pin
Paul
Swissey
Saddam
Gary, but havent seen him on for several years now??)
Aero (some knew him as Lusitano, man i really enjoyed playing that fella!!)
A fella out of Germany..4-get his name..He had a first name a middle initial and a last name..when he played online?? Bugs me I cant remember, signs of old age I reckon..GOT it..Thomas Diemar I believe it was
Gavrushka probably did most to explain what I should do, just takes foreever taking turn, NOT as bad as Patryn mind you
Lets see, Jack-boot Faded Glory, er..um.Saddam is pretty good!!
I been playing long time but seen some good players and some great players, but Allways have fun playing!!
I been having fun playing 2 folks whom are really good, only played them last 6 months or so, but had some fun 6-8 hour straight games, one is Attilla and other is Erni!
Both are great players and have learned much from them, attilla taught me to use farm improvements and Erni taught me mines, mines=gold and farms=growth.
I try both ways, both have advantages!!

Hey, I resemble that remark about taking long turns. It wouldn't have been so long, had I not had 40 diplomats, on a giant, 100% land map. You were just sore because you were losing the ruin race that gave me 3 times as many cities that you had in the settler excluded game.
I had modern while you were just scratching the surface of renaisance. I shall have to try that PBEM when I get my disc in the mail, they seem to know what a true game of strategy is all about. I seem to be at my best when I get to spend time micromanaging my every citizen. ;D And yes, I bought a ctp disc online, and it should be here in 1 day (we can only hope) so I am looking forward to finishing some games, and prepareing for the league.

I have a major concern about the upcoming world league... People are going to be committed to playing many games. You must understand that this is a long term event, and will involve playing regularly.... There is no problems with conceding games, but walking out on one is going to be a no-no and I am sure will involve serious repercussions... My play style is slow and frustrating to many players- That is only because of the Volume of units I have to move..... and often I get faced with the situation that my turn hangs on a unit move for a minute or more... I want everyone to understand that turn speeds will vary from game to game.... You are all forewarned... I think bad sportmanship, will need to be written into the rules of this competition...
Rick even though Stonehenge becomes obsolete the additional growth generated is never undone.... And it makes an enormous difference imagine you had a city that ate 40 food, and generated 60- under Stonehenge it would still eat 40, but generate 75 - In other words it would grow twice as fast - with the resultant increase in food production science and gold..... OR every size 4 city could set a scientist away without cost - and with science improvements and 20 cities you could have an extra 500 or so science for free....He's back after a fashion...
