  • How old are you? Are any females here?

I was wandering around the CTP2 posts when I saw a topic with a subject related to the age of the people playing strategy games. I always wanted to know the age of my teammates in PBEM games and if they are male or female (I doupt if there is any although I saw one in the posts on the topic mentioned before). Don't you???
I only saw BirdMan and Quinns posting there. And as I discovered they are some old dudes (comparing to me) who trying to remember the old days when they where youngsters .
Just kidding of cource. I hope (trully) to have the courage and their brave when I will be at their age with their responsibilities of raising a family to be a kidd on my own and play computer games!

Well, how old are you guys?
    Male or Female?
    I am 25.
    I am a male .

I believe we have a member of the more deadly gender in our dutcheese game, Klair from Toulouse, France.

She is leading the power graph in a very dominant way.

I also play quite a bit of SMAC PBEM and there are a lot more female Players on the ACOL Forum than here. I know only of Klair and Lung amongst the CTP'ers and there was another right at the start of DC but she disappeared.

I'm 37, a real 'oldie', and fairly obviously male. It amazed me that when I very first played PBEM, which was SMAC, that my opponents were cut from just about every age-group, social background and nation under the sun. I had feared I would be swept away in a tidal wave of adolescent hormonal imbalances but very far from it. Through SMAC and CtP PBEM I have not only enjoyed some great Games but also met some genuinely very nice and interesting people from all over the World. Regardless of age or gender this little community seems united by the common love of 'Gaming' with all the history of board wargames, plus some RPG thrown in, that that entails.

Maybe TBS Games don't have the kiddie appeal of RTL, though I do enjoy being thrashed by the AI at 'Standard' Level in AoE's as well. PBEM is much more the preserve of those who enjoy City Micromanagement rather than simply building for the old fashioned Civ1 'Chariot Charge'. It is also much more convenient for when you have to work and cope with a 'normal' adult life you simply cannot tell everyone else to leave you alone whilst you spend 12 Hours glued to the PC.

Oh, so we have a female PBEM gamer and a good one. That's nice .

Hahaha, nice picture you have there Yeti . Maybe we could tell Klair to email you ...and maybe play some PBEM with her .

Yeah I know your gender Thor. You are a female, right? Just kidding .

Paul? Is that a female name? Kidding .

Common BirdMan you can do better than that .

Fraze, you haven't tell us your age!

Jon, the Lung I now is a male not a female . And I will agree with you that in these forums you can meet many interesting people from all over the world of all the ages young and older guys who share the same desire for Turn-based strategy games and probably for other genres. And I think great games like CTP and SMAC do not distinguish ages!

I'm 28. And you can guess my gender from my name.

Sure I can - I can just cut-n-paste my post from a similar tread on CTPII-General I think it is one of the top ten topics there

Many other of the players on CTP has posted there already.

By the way - I would also be very surprised, if it shows up that Lung was female Unless there are two of the same name - could be one on a different site.....

Yeah I know about that post. I just didn't show many responses from players from this forum (CTP-Multiplayer) or a gender clarification so I started this topic here in this forum.
Maybe I sould post a topic about genders there .
Would be interesting to know if there are any female CTP players among us!

Ok Keygen - just keep this between me and you (and the rest of the gang ).

Male, 43 years 9 months and 19 days. IT-manager (www.lyngbyes.dk). Married, 3 girls: 44 years 23 days (ohhh... that was my wife ), 13 years and the last one - 10 years old.

Going through TPG II (ThePerfectGeneral)(ms-dos), Risk (ms-dos), CIV II, Ceasar III, SMAC to CTP.

And - if WES gets his mod working AND/OR Craptivision make at least on patch more, that include PBEM - CTP II. Open for CIV III when that game will be released.

                      Other games?

RTS: Red Alert, AOE and AOK. No problems in beating the AI on any levels/map sizes - if I survive the first 10-20 minutes, that is . Has always been a slow starter in those games.

Best AOE-rank on "The Zone" 2 years ago between 600 and 650 - and that was not so bad at all.

And of course I had played Chess - both the "real" game face-to-face and against the PC - but never online.

And besides - this counts a one post more for me AS KING BEFORE NEW YEAR - YAHOOOOO.....

Nice BirdMan! You have just made this topic even more interesting.

                        I am not married.

I am a software tester. I work for a company (www.archetypon.gr) wich is collaborating with Microsoft and Lotus regarding the testing process of localized versions of some of their products. I have been involved in the testing process of some of the localized versions (French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Greek, etc) of Windows 2000, Windows 2000 Service Pack 1, Office 2000 Service Release 1, Lotus Notes 5.0.5, Lotus Sametime 2.0 (something like Netmeeting for companies and organizations) and currently waiting for Lotus Workflow 2.1.1 to come (A flow chart program).

I used to play risk when I was younger (12-16), later played Axis & Allies for a period (regarding board games).
My parents had gave me an Atari 2600 (or was it 2000, for Europe maybe?) for a gift when I was 10 or 11. I had stayed up till late many times at that summer . Then they bought me a commodore 64. This home computer was really something!!! After that I had sent some time with my brother's Amiga. I started dealing with PCs from the 1994 but I only had the chance to buy one not until 1997. I played Civilization 2, Call to Power & Alpha Centauri from the first day they came to Greece, War Craft II, Total Annihilation, Age of Empires, Age of Kings (a little), Quake II & III, Final Fantasy VII (one of the best games ever) and some more.

                        That's for now .
Hoping to see some other PBEM players comming here and post similar things too.

                          Oh yes.

But as I have stated: I am (was) a slow starter

My grandchildren will probably show up before I know

                            Klair is very very good!

I am third in DC and for a Game of it's age would normally reckon that things were ticking along quite nicely but she is over twice my ranking in the PG and still rising!

They may be a rarity in TBS Games but when they are there they tend to be dangerous. There is also the old saying about 'hell hath no fury' and Lung, Davina Luland - definately female, is a prime example. Vicious, vindictive and utterlly ruthless when crossed, watch her like a hawk!
