If our worker goes straight to it (and I don't see any reason why not) we should have FS connected to AB in 9 turns, or in 1400 BC.

Seems like that could be just about as fast as them researching iron working...

So am I. IIRC they have a little more GNP than us according to the graphs, but if they sink research into IW first (not to mention our GNP will be going up soon with the gold mine) then I think we'd be better off going for them ourselves.

Sent note to sarantium that I pasted our screenies to form a map using clear map and resources on, and await their word on when they are ready to exchange.

      • Can we get an update on Sarantium diplomacy, UnO?

        • One quick bit of information you will learn when the turn arrives anyway.

We have kinda sorta snatched up the horses out from under the outstretched fingers of the Horde settler stack you probably saw with your warrior/scout in the jungle.

We have no border agreement with them at present and have not violated any deals. If they choose to declare war over this, we might could use a little bit of a hand on some fog removal/barb prevention if you would be agreeable to such a thing.
          UnO

Thanks for your note and the heads up. Congratulations on winning the horse race!

As to providing a hand should it be required, we would be open to that. Obviously the specifics would need to be worked out, but in principle, you can count on us.

Regarding techs, we have done one turn of IW, and at end of turn last turn were 13 turns from completing it. The F6 screen currently shows 7 turns for Writing and 24 for Alphabet. Those times will likely be reduced with growth.

Again, in order to avoid us both researching the same tech, we are willing to switch to the Writing and Alphabet route immediately provided that (a) the tech deal is formally agreed to in principle and (b) there is a provision to supply us with copper for a period of time to allow us to develop a spear capability, and (c), we swap maps again after you have finished IW.

With respect to (b), we are willing to compensate Team Mercenary for copper through the use of tech points.

I am around all weekend and available to work out the details.

Regards, and congrats again ... Beta.
Hi UnO. I do not want to pressure you guys, but .... we just got the save at 2:30 this aft (e.s.t.). We need to know what to do about IW. If we have a deal along the lines I outlined, please confirm so that we can switch over to writing.

If more time is required at your end to review and discuss (ie that would take us beyond 2:30 tomorrow) please let us know asap, so we can figure out what we do with our research in the meantime. No one at our end is keen on shutting it down for a turn.

Thanks for your understanding and help on this.

          ...Beta.

Wow, what bad timing, I was out of town all afternoon/night.

We agree to supply you with copper as soon as is possible, and have relegated a worker to connect the trade network ASAP. We look forward to a profitable future of tech sharing.
(Also had a chat with Flamer on this since apparantly Beta didn't post my message in time)

Again - sorry about the rush, and thanks for the quick response and the positive answer on the copper. So, I take this to mean that we have a tech deal along the lines as we have discussed. I am recommending that we switch over to writing this turn.

Do we need to write up anything more formal, or will the correspondence to-date suffice?

          Happy Sunday. ...Beta
I'll type something up so that it will be in our history that will eventually be published.

And, yes, we agree to the basic ideas behind the tech plan. We'll give you Iron and whatever else you're missing, and I believe we're going after Metal Casting next in this scenario. We'll get all the tech points worked out later.

            • Flamer's e-mail with the 1680 BC save:

Here is the save. We hope your war goes well.

You most probably have us as an ally against the horde, but I have to get the consensus of the team to make it official.

              Have a good turn!

              • UnO this is a quick and dirty summary of what we are pretty sure of intell wise on the wHorde, most of this is calculated or observed, some is conjecture, if you have questions let us know

                1) They built too many Scouts and Popped more from Huts, for a total of 4.

                2) They have built a Barracks in their Capitol, very early.

                3) They have built 5 (4 of them after the Barracks) Archers. Which some then got extra experiance from Barb hunting. The Regular and One of the Barb enhanced Vets died on your Axe.

                4) of the 3 surviving Archers, we know where one is, the other 2 are somewhere near their Capitol, we assume.

                5) We beleave that one of the Archers might be with their Settler but are not sure. If anything, one is rushing out to meet their Settler down at the other Horses. This still leaves 1 unaccounted for, but likely near their Capitiol.

                6) They have not yet produced a Worker.

                7) They (their Capitol) might have been building a Worker, when they attacked you, but if so, have likely changed to another Archer. They have also started turning their plowshares into swords... (more hammers, less food - WF change).

                8) They bypassed BW/IW to go for the very expensive HBR without having any horses available (that we know of) and without any workers to connect them up. They have no clue how close their Copper is to them, nor do they have a worker currently, to connect it up.

                7) We figure that they were going to produce their first Worker with the city that they settled next (the Settler that is now wondering in the wilderness...). As they will have to take 6-7 turns to travel and settle at the other Site, it will delay their Worker even that much longer.

                8) we have a very good idea as to their Interior Terrain and can send you a map, if you want?? The only thing that we don't know is what, if any, resources might be in the FoW. But, if there is, they aren't concerned with improving them.

                9) So obviously you wont make any money pilliaging because they have nothing to pilliage, and likely wont in the immediate future......

Hope that helps, of course if you know something we do not we would appreciate it if you reciprocate.......

                con

                Minister of Laziness and Sloth.

                My quick reply:

The only thing we could add is we know of a barb warrior out towards the west of their capitol (got our scout), near the other ponies. They have at least one of their scouts out that way as well.

What is your team's feelings on a border?

We are wanting to settle towards the pigs and fish up near our capitol, and signing over the area near the gold to you guys. I have a map, but wanted some input from the builderers on our team before I send it to you.

The archer is unharmed and has combat I and drill I promotions.

We are still discussing the moves and stuff.

The Horde will pay for this!

                        Indeed.

We'll have to see how much comes besides intel, though. Quite frankly, I don't see them having the resources right now to really help, unless they kill themselves churning out some axes once we get them copper.

                        • The best thing Sarantium can do for us is help us keep an edge on the Horde from a tech perspective, once they get alphabet. Of course, if they are willing to help in squeezing the Horde then I'm all for it. I am a little concerned that they will be allowed to quietly expand while we get sidetracked in an expensive conflagration with the Horde. I think they should somehow be lured into commiting some resources into this conflict just to slow them down.

                          Comment

                          • If we could get them to commit forces, that would be best. Unfortunately, I doubt that's going to happen.

I think best case scenario is what UnO suggested, getting us paid by Sarantium (in tech points probably) for attacking the Horde.

                            Comment

                            • In essence asking them to tip the balance of our tech trades in our favour seeing as we are commiting resources toward the business with The Horde and thus keeping them out of Sarantium's back yard?

Sounds like a perfect scenario to me. It's always good to get someone to pay you to do something you were going to do anyways.

Basically. I'm not sure how to phrase it... threatening to shrug off what the Horde has done if they don't compensate us for our revenge is not at all a way to get anything out of them, not to mention not really a threat I'd be willing to stick to.
