Most Jubilant Greetings Honored Banana Diplomat, I Impaler[WrG] once again have the pleasure of bringing many good tidings to your ears.

First let me direct your attention to this scroll (see attachment) our metallurgists have succeeded in forging Iron and the locations of several Iron lodes have been identified. The land is rich with 3 sources already identified, of these one is to our west, one to your east and one between us on the edge of the arctic wastes. It is on this point we wish to make a further proposal.

As we agreed so many years ago the people of Yang have claim to mine the Marble of this land and the people of Banana shall in exchange receive supplies of said marble upon request and without charge once it becomes possible. Our glorious Chairman has recently completed a plan for the founding of future cities. With the discover of this Iron site nearby the Marble the most obvious location is a City is one located on the small hill overlooking the marble quarries and Iron mines. But due to the desolate nature of the area the city would be dependent upon the wheat field to the south for sustenance. Therefor we seek an agreement that the area of this future city be formally declared territory of the One Yang and that no future Banana City be placed in such a way as to have overlap with it. If this would result in your People being deprived of wheat we will agree to gift a wheat to you as their is another in the west we can use. Certainly this request is not unreasonable considering our earlier agreements, the marginal nature of the lands in question and our limited room for expansion.

Now for my next topic, our Scholars have now directed their efforts towards Writing. They be live that the creation of a Library though taking some considerable investment in resources will ultimately return our investment in about a generation. Thus by the time we are ready to exchange knowledge we expect to have the pro missed technologies but with Writing and Animal Husbandry now drooped from the exchange the balance of points would now be in your favor by a slight margin. We plan to follow with Fishing, Sailing and Masonry for a chance at the Great Lighthouse. How do your plans progress and how soon do you think Alphabet will be ready?

Lastly the issue of the new-comers to our land, our scouts are now penetrating into the area to your south, late last night news reached me that a scouting party of the long sought 3rd tribe made contact with ours. Their language was at first strange and indecipherable to us but after many gestures they were able to identify themselves by the some-what ominous name of Gathering Storm. I will soon be occupied in a formal greeting ceremony afterwards we can begin planning a three way meeting probably over IRC. On behalf of the One Yang and all his children I thank your people for making this contact possible.

Greeting honored Banana Diplomat, I Impaler[WrG] great you yet again bearing proposals

My work has been re-doubled in resent days as I have just returned from an arduously long
journey to meet a Gathering Storm ambassador and his ontorage for our first formal meeting.
We spoke of Cabbages and Kings and many things and we considered the discussion fruitfull

Dur ring these talks I proposed a 3 way IRC chat with my Gathering Storm equivalent and
he was receptive, he hoped this coming weekend would be a possible time for the meeting
the channel will be #Negotiations udder apolyton.net and I'm going to propose a tentative
early Saturday night time frame from a North American time frame so 03:00 - 05:00 GMT
(technically now on Sunday morning) Of course in the Banana representative will be from
Europe that wont work very well and we should instead look for something like a 22:00 GMT
which would be mid afternoon for North Americans.

The primary topic will be to forge an optimum tech trading plan for the mutual benefit of
all members, our peoples have already been conducting such planning quite well. Storm is
eager not to be left out in the cold and being Milanese their tech rate should be quite nice
in the long run so its in our interests to include them as well. Ofcorse coordinating a
three way tech bee-line is a complex task so be prepared with your thinking caps and
calculators. The proposed Banana-AlphaCentauri trade package is still in principle agreeable
to AlphaCentauri and these negotiations should not be seen as a retraction of that
offer, rather its an opportunity for enhancement. The meeting will also act as a trust building
event with Gathering Storm which will need to make a leap of faith considerably greater then ours
they will need to put their cards on the table and reveal their current tech and tech plan.
With all parties commit ed such and willing to alter their plans for mutual benefit our continent
can ac hive a decisive tech lead over the rest of the world.

Please respond by at least Friday as to the acceptability of the time frame and who your
representative will be, respond even earlier if the time 3-5 GMT frame is un-acceptable.

OK. It's a bit long but here is my email to GS and AC. I will post it in both diplo threads.

Friends of the Banana - Gathering Storm & Alpha Centurians,
I understand that the Bananas' lack of responses to you could be seen as us being unfriendly and uninterested in peace or trade with our good neighbors Gathering Storm (GS) and our long time friends of Alpha Centuri (AC). Please do not take offense.

To be open with you our tribe has suffered some losses recently: our turn player unexpectedly quit, a new member who showed great promise left too, the mighty P'Rex has been traveling and my life has gotten busy as well. These are excuses that you can choose to consider. Live chats are difficult for us to make a commitment to at this time. However, I promise to look at the email at least daily for word from you.

The proposed open science agreement that AC and Team Banana nearly signed and agree to in its intent is still on the table. Team Banana welcomes GS to the table and to the agreement. It was always Team Banana's intent to bring our three nations together but word from the sky and snoopy369 made it clear that we could not mention GS to AC or AC to GS. Team Banana hopes that GS and AC will still have us as friends. Team Banana strongly believes that we 3 nations must grow together and stick together if we are to prosper in this large world. Not all nations will be as friendly as we have been to eachother. By openly sharing technologies we grow closer in friendship and peace. Team Banana sees the culture of our 3 nations covering this continent. Science, commerce, and mutual defense should be our concerns.

SCIENCE -
AC and Team Banana have all but signed the science agreement. AC kindly brought GS to the table to discuss GS being brought into the agreement. It sounds to me that everyone wants this. Due to our long friendship, Team Banana has full faith and trust in AC. AC, please draw up an acceptable 3 way tech treaty and Team Banana will sign it. AC reports that they have already started researching Writing. Sign up Team Banana to start on Iron Working ASAP, if this has not already been discovered. Let us three nations affirm our friendship with the open sharing of science.

Team Banana would prefer to see a treaty that openly and freely trades techs. The proposed treaty had some conversion of gold to technology - but at the end of the age there was only a difference of something like 8 gold to be paid. With 3 nations involved that difference will be even less. What is 4 gold pieces among friends? Team Banana humbly suggests this out line:

* Simplify the proposed treaty by dropping the gold to tech payment.
* State that as soon as possible (discovery of writing?) the 3 member nations freely exchange techs so that everyone has the same technologies to start with.
* Draw up a research path for each nation: AC - Writing, ...; Banana - Iron Working, ...; GS - ?, ...
* Add a clause that nations freely gift a discovered technology to member nations the same turn it is discovered, or the turn after it is discovered.
* And provide an exit/renewal clause such as, at change of age, a given tech is discovered, a given year, etc.

Well that was simple. Is that the agreement right there? AC and GS work out the remaining details and Team Banana will sign it. Team Banana wants this to be a reality.

I will send an addendum to this that includes a list of our current technologies.

COMMERCE -
Team Banana and AC have agreed to build a road connecting the two nations. As our nations expand a long road becomes less of an issue. This is good. Soon our nations will be connected and the discussed trade of resources can begin. Team Banana would like to know where GS is so that a route could be built to open up commerce between our three nations. Is it possible to exchange screenshots?

MUTUAL DEFENSE -
Let us sign the science agreement and begin trade between our nations. Team Banana believes that once our nations are united together through open science and mutually profitable trade, mutual defense will only be natural.
