Aginor, Blake, and gentle come to mind.

Aginor I don't know, but both Blake and gentle would be excellent additions. I don't see any reason why not to invite them. We can always use more members...

I think that everyone should use his own discretion to invite people. An invitation is not an acceptance, which means we can still blackball if needed.

That is...a problem. In many peoples eyes being asked to join a team only to be rejected is not a nice, fair, friendly thing to do, and turn people against us. That is one of the last things we want to happen.

okay, that's true. But in these 3 cases, I see no harm in inviting them. At least a couple of our members would white ball, and not abstain... we'll deal with a possible future black-ball later.

I would hate to lose Blake and gentle to another team, simply because we forgot to ask. Or are still debating a what-if scenario, and intend to invite them in 2 weeks anyway.

Yes, I would like to ask all three of them, and the tradition of asking strat forum members goes way back It would be best if they could be contacted, and asked if they would like to join us, instead of us asking them implicitly to join.

Perhaps a quick poll thread entitled "Invites for Blake, Aginor and gentle?" would be the right way to do it. I agree with Krill: don't invite people and THEN do a white/black poll on them!

I think he had some potential.
Edit: Now that I've read the polls for membership (including mine, I couldn't resist ) I should say that maybe it was a good preemtive measure. Still a shame...

Yes, a shame. I wish he'd given a better answer when asked about the past.

We have had to turn people away before. The desire to be open and include as many as possible has to be tempered with judgement about possible negative consequences for everyone on the team.

flash was different, I think. He was a pure troll, only negative energy... E_N still has positive energy in him, even if he trolls.

A shame indeed, but I don't think we've got anything to blame ourselves. Oh, and whether he would have answered differently or not to the cheating question doesn't matter to me... it only aggrevates the situation.

I'm sure most, if not all, here are aware of this (haven't seen it mentioned on the strat or general fora), and I haven't read up on the map type, which may make it irrelevant. Anyway, I just confirmed in my current SP game the globe circumnavigation is not tied to a single ship. It's a minor thing, but if we're in a position to send two caravels opposite directions when we get optics, it could be just one of those small advanatages that pile up over the course of a game.

Plus, posting this lets me have a record of how it works for later when I can't remember without cluing in any opponents that may see it on an open forum.
