Indeed, Stonehenge is an interesting idea... but there are two IND civs out there.

I'd love to get it to counter CRE civs' culture and also for the prophet points (hmm... alternative CS slingshot anyone? ).

I only count 2 creative civs, but there are 4 financial ones, if my book is correct.

I transfered them wrong, never mind.

Vox, Mercs, Horde and Banana are all CRE. That's four.

Kublai is creative. Ghengis is Expansive.

Freddy is creative. Bismark is expansive.

Both French leaders are IND... neither is ORG. One (Nappy) is AGG, the other is CRE (Louis).

            @Aginor
I admit my analogy with driving is somewhat flawed.
Going along with yours on stopping to buy/look at a map, I must comment that I alway prepare *before* I drive off. So I'll know which route would be best and don't come late because that tankshop doesn't have the map I need or because I do not know how much time I must calculate for being en route. Again, not knowing our 'roadbook' at this time IMO does not mean we couldn't have chosen a main destination (win by domination, space race...) although you have a point saying that it may be more efficient to know which direction our road goes, before chosing a corresponding destination.
What stands is my opinion on defining and centralizing (dedicated thread) an overall strategy and derived tactics when time is due. I can imagine situations where Spartan Academy is focussing on ways which would lead to a win by domination whereas Smith may be more focussed on Space-race-techs. A consensus on which vicory to aim for may help keep all wheels rolling in the same direction. (And may help teammembers that are new or temporary of-line to instantly know what direction GS is going at that moment). Since most teammember probably will participate in all or most academies, I believe all 'wheels' will more or less point at the same destination. Nevertheless...

              RoyAl,

I think you're right that we need a high-level analysis, and detail from there. There's a bit of a problem though, that what will be possible will be hard to predict before knowing at least a little bit of the situation. Give it time, it will become better.

For instance, right after we saw what the others got as civs, we started discussing on our initial goals (religion or not). Sure, we need to structure it, but like I've said before: if you see something you think should improve, don't post with ideas about it, but post a suggestion. If it's good, we'll run with it, however you do have the risk that everybody will look your way when some 'work' needs to be done in that domain.

If you want, start a thread on overall strategy, give some ideas, and start some debate. Someone will surely comment on it, and off we go. However, you need specific goals, and things like 'we want to beat the Horde before 1 AD' are impossible to put forward as a goal right now.

It is GS' style to be fairly pragmatic... we never were builders, or conquerers, and last game we become top-researchers more or less by accident. CIV is even worse than PTW, in that the map and circumstances will decide your direction even harder. We need to be agile, and can't risk to put forward some objective that wouldn't fit our map... that doesn't mean we can't start analysing what would be valid options. After all, we now know our civ, UU, and stating techs. Some discussion can come from that.

DeepO, I hear you and Aginor. It's too early. When I feel time is due, nobody else started the discussion and I feel indifferent towards people staring at me with eyes that say: "do it!", I may air a thread on this topic then.

I've been playing MP recently, and I have layed a few games against FP, of all people.

What I can say is that FP loves to get the oracle first, and just run through the tech tree, and then slaughter people with a lot mroe units than they can come up with.

So what i would say is that if we can get the Oracle early, then we can put a crimp on our main competitors prefered style of play.

So put me down for the religion route. get a religion, get BW, get preisthood, chop oracle, nab IW.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Good insight, Krill. I'm gonna copy & paste it into the KGB thread.

It's good to have somebody with some MP experience (particularly vs. a key member of an opponent).

There is going to be a 'poly news article about the start of the game, and UnO was soliciting blurbs from each team about themselves.

I took the liberty of posting this: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...91#post4274691

If anybody has a problem with it, or has specific suggestions that they feel really improve it, say so.

[Eddie Izzard]Do you have a flag?... No flag, no country. Can't have one.[/Eddie]

It appears that, if people are willing to go through the effort of creating them, snoopy is adding civ-specific flags to the unit icons for each civ in the game. This is seperate and distinct from our civgroup shield and civ color.

Personally, I don't care, and I've nearly zero artistic ability, so I won't be making a flag. If anyone else wants to, however, have at it.

Will there be a discussion on the team's position on turn time limits and civ turn order?, two threads posted recently in the public forum.
As for myself, I think there should be a strict fixed time limit (how much I don't know really) and turn order probably depends on time zones. We are mostly UTC<3, so chances are turn player will be in that time zone (?)

Oops. Sorry, NM. I posted already with a reservation that the team could say different and I would change our position. That being said...

Past experience with several multi-continental teams leads me to predict that there is no 'right' place for us in the order. Turn player time zones could shift 10 or 12 hours (West Coast NA-SA to Eastern Europe) and then there is the entirely unpredictable situation of the antipodes.

In short, this is a ready made 'go with the flow' question for us.
