Feudalism + IOU vs CS would be a MUCH better deal now.
Unfortunately at the time I was proposing to propose it to GS, there were lots of opposition.

And as I already spoke in the chat, I don't like expressing our development strategy. They did not answer with such openness and never have.

The bit about Theology and DR being crap seems suspicious.

After some Chat between BinTravkin, Lacero, -SafaN- and myself were planning on presenting GS with the following offer.

AC declines the Philosophy for Civil Service offer from GS because Philosophy is of zero use to us. We would be interested in Feudalism and would trade Civil Service for Feudalism + the IOU we have been meaning to pay back for a while. We can also agree not to compete with GS in their Liberalism b-line if they accept this trade.

Meanwhile we can do Theology and Divine right securing Religion parity with Storm and getting ourselves to the brink of Nationalism largely eliminating any threat of a Cultural victory from them. Once Feudalism is in hand we can easily grab Guilds and Banking to access the powerful economic benefits their as well.

If their are no objections I'll make the proposal to GS likely through Blake or NYE.

The key to a culture win is enough religions. With 4 in your cities, that's a whopping +200% culture just from cultural buildings. Even if you don't have many wonders, you've still got a couple of national wonders which provide culture, specialists, and for the final push, the culture slider.

The planned counter-counter proposal is as follows

AC gifts CS to GS, for the ten turns following that GS gifts 20 gold per turn to AC. GS researches Feudalism as its next tech and gifts it to AC upon completion. AC's 150 beaker dept is also cleared and no debts remain after Feudalism is gifted.


We might be willing to lower the gold a bit say 150 minimum if they haggle that point but no lower in my opinion (what do yall think?)

If they reject the payment plan completely then our next and likely final offer will be CS gifted now for Feudalism and Paper as soon as they are researched.

It only keeps them from having bureaucracy advantage for some 10 turns.

Blake seems agreeable to the structure of the deal but of course is haggling for a lower payment under the argument that each gold transfered is equivalent to 2 beakers, he proposes 140 as the payment. I think we will be able to meet some ware in the middle. I think this should try to hold onto 200 with 170 being our final offer if their stubborn. We can simply research Feudalism ourselves after all. Blake also mentioned the possibility of them starting payment only after Philosophy is done which could give that to them a turn earlier.

I'm starting to think that the Feudalism + Paper deal would be preferable but I'd highly doubt they would go for it.

Blake has accepted the CS 4 Fud + Paper deal, he said he was making an executive decision to do so on the spot (interesting that he feels he can do that, either he is given huge lee-way or feels he can 'sell' the deal to them after the fact, suspect everyone on GS bows down to Blake's judgments).

I'll write up a treaty and G-mail it to them and when we get back a signed copy we will transfer CS to them this turn.
