Exactly. Ive been doing this myself lately. HR+Pacifism=pwns. The money cost per unit isnt that bad, and its slightly offset by the civic itself having no cost per turn

We feel that the proposal to delay research a little is a good one, especially because the delay isn't likely to be long (we're getting the GP at the end of next turn).

We also think that if you want to found a religion with discovering Philosophy, you should start research as soon as possible, so no other civilization gets there first.

In case you take on research of Civil Service, we will most likely be researching Compass.

Quick update on our research status. We have popped a Great Merchant and are planning to finish Civil Service and Calendar presently.

I was going to give them more detail on why we didnt get CS right away, but that would mean telling them about the GL and i wasnt sure how clean we should come....so i left it rather vague. In addition we havnt actually agreed when to get CS

A message proposal towards GS about Vox :

Greetings GS,


First of all, we want to thank you for sending us Code Of Laws. We also congratulate you with the founding of Confucianism.

The general announcement from Vox in the public forum is not a lie. When woke up in 175BC we noticed Vox has indeed declared war on AC. We have not seen nor spoken any Vox military or diplomat for centuries. Do you have any idea what might have triggered their decision ?

We currently have some forces healing around the ruins of what used to be Bananas splitsville. We are not in danger at all and are pretty sure we can hold that position against Vox. However, now Vox has declared war on us, we could also use those units to continue our offensive and help you in your war against them. What is GS' stance in this matter ?

Probably me, but I prefer to keep messages vague and not say "we will do this or that" without even knowing the situation.

I'm not concerned about the form of message.
What concerns me is, the possible answers and their consequences.
If we ask them directly should we intervene and they say no, still intervening would be a no-no.
I'd prefer to ask as little as possible and say as little as possible.

Something along these lines:
"Our border guards have been alerted and will look out for any refugees, spies or intruders from south."
