    Greetings GS,

First of all, we want to thank you for sending us Code Of Laws. We also congratulate you with the founding of Confucianism.

The general announcement from Vox in the public forum is not a lie. When we woke up in 175BC we noticed Vox has indeed declared war on AC. We have not seen nor spoken any Vox military or diplomat for centuries. Do you have any idea what might have triggered their decision ?

We currently have some forces healing around the ruins of what used to be Bananas splitsville. We are not in danger at all and are pretty sure we can hold that position against Vox. Our border guards have been informed of the new situation and will look out for any refugees, spies or intruders from the south.

      • why does this DOW change anything? Its obviously a political statement before they are killed

just me, but i wouldnt tell them about our forces down there until we can seize a favourable treaty line position

        • Actually I don't feel like anything has changed, but it's a good opportunity to pace down GS if they are thinking we're advancing.

                • I approve this message after the fact

I think we could begin a series of exchanges with GS that can lead to the demarcation line we want aka the mountain ridge. If GS says not to interfere I can live with that, the territory is the important part right now.

                  • Incoming:
Greetings our friends at Team AC!

Thank you for keeping us up to date with your research plans. We have
started researching Philosophy. At our present research rate
Philosophy will take 18 turns to discover.

Vox's war declaration was certainly odd from our perspective. We
suspect that they see no way out of their demise and have decided to
perish in the twisted joy of war.

Our intelligence agency informs us that Vox's second city, Moscow, has
been founded on a source of horses. Voxians know the secrets of horse
riding and have even unsuccessfully mounted an attack against one of
our cities using Horse Archers. Since this is their main strike unit,
your people may wish to consider training a spearman to safeguard your
                    southern acquisitions.

                    With warm regards,

                    Team GS

                      • 18 turns thats rather slow, unit upkeep costs could be strangling their research efforts. Also their crippling lack of libraries is eating into the advantage they gain from their crazy flood-plain start. What would our research time be for Philosophy?

The continued survival of Vox and the audacity on their part to launch HorseArcher raids on GS is inspiring. I really do wish things had turned out differently.

Our Southern Army should be safe from a HorseArchers based attack so long as it stays together and we should group them so before moving past through the mountain pass. If the opportunity comes to attack this northern City (can we determine this cities location precisely?) we should consider it.

We've already told them were doing Calender and have some tentative trades planned for it. I currently see nothing they have that we need now and Philosophy is of little interests. Only Construction interests us long term and we can trade for it later. Our currently military tech is still the penultimate unit on Earth and were going hard core builder for probably the next 30-50 turns after which we may find ourselves so far ahead that the game is practically over.

                        • Btw, we get macemen in 2 turns.

Vox city location - it must be somewhere south of the Gates and east (probably even on the coast).
Otherwise GS would have blocked it too.

Our research time for Philosophy will likely be less because of Library and other stuff, but we have things unfinished.
I think that it's even good they've started such a long tech - they may easily end up not being first and while they're busy we can pick some techs which are not interesting to them like Compass and Optics.

                          • Proposed Message to GS:

Greatings Stormians, first let me start by congradulating you on the conquest of The Voice. The defenders must surely have fought to the last man and we hope the city proves fruitfull for you. Only one city remains too fall for your long war to be completed and we feel we may be of some assistence in that task. Currently our forces of Chucks is grouping up and preparing to move toward the last Vox city which we just found the edge of with our scouts. Their expert marksmanship could come in handy both in offense and defense. If your interested we could exchange information on our forces and that of the enemy and create a joint attack plan.

On a related note we would like to formalize a border agreement with Gathering Storm. Centauri proposes the ridge of mountains at the juncture of the narrow pannama like land and the larger continent you ocupy. The narrow landmass will provide ample coastal city sites which are our current focus. Were not sure if any of this land is considered Stormian by you as we don't know what if any border agreement you had with Banana.

Lastly we are still eager to initiate traderoutes between our empires. Our scouting parties may be able to map a navagable route if they are granted permission to move through Stormian territory. Alternativly if you further explore the river that flows through your capitol or build a coastal city on your west coast that may connect us.

Tech wise we have just finished Calander and will be persuing Compass and Optics to try to make contact with the other teams.

                            • Some points:
                              - they don't need to be pointed out of our coastal city focus - if they know it themselves, so be it, if they don't, we should be the last to inform
                              - I feel that more elaborate justification of the proposed border is needed as well as a screenshot showing the proposed borderline
                              - I don't think starting open borders for the sake of moving scouts through their territory is a good idea - they will ask the same from us
                              - as well as not telling what our economic strategy is, we shouldn't point out that we're going for caravels and contact, mentioning Compass should be enough

                              • * At the moment we have some troops near the last voxian city. We plan to attack it, but we are not interested in the city itself. So tell us, if we are the first to capture it, do you want it destroyed or gifted to you?
                                * With the voxian barbarians eliminated we can do some serious negotiating. Your research is leading to Philosophy, ours is leading to Compass. We also have agreed to trade Calendar for Constructions as soon as we have it (a couple of turns)
*We also want to make some border agreement. We are in favor of the mountain range at the istmus between the nothern and southern part of the continent. If you agree with this line we will recall all our military troops north of this range.
                                * We have a scout in your area tasked to explore coastline. Since we know what started the war with Vox please tell us if you are offended by their movements.

if we are shooting for mercantilism, we should not ask for open borders. It will only give them a possibility to sneak in missionaries
