  • Im considering sending a pm to nye and Hot Mustard listing the diplo message dates and asking whether they got any of those.

    Greetings!

This message is to confirm whether GS has received following diplomatic messages from AC:
    07-May-2007 09:18 A message from AC
    16-May-2007 12:59 Regarding trade routes
24-Jun-2007 17:37 Re: Regarding trade routes
    25-Jun-2007 23:34 A message from AC

    Thanks,
    Team AC

    • We should go public. Hinting to the other continent that this continent is becoming fragmented should scare GS into communicating.

      Comment

      • Well, first we should confirm they got them.
After that we can go public, yes, but the public expressions of GS have been rather sympathetic to us, I'm wondering why there's no diplomatic follow-up.

        • yeah, but if they haven't recieved them going public will make sure they hear about it if we can't confirm that any other way.

          Comment

          • If they haven't received them due to some technical reason, by going public we'd totally alienate them I think.

            • Not in a nasty way, just something like "We're trying to get intouch with GS and you email seems to be broken, could you send us a mail?"

If it is a technical problem they should be more worried about alienating us.

              • Well, ok, I'll send the pm, it can't hurt anyway.

                • Yeah you should send the pm first. I'm thinking about afterwards. I just can't believe GS think they can win on thier own against the other continent? Even if Vox and Banana joined up with GS they'd probably still lose, and Vox almost certainly wouldn't and Banana won't be a in a position to.

                  • Hi - yes, we're getting your emails. I'm very embarrassed that we have not responded to them (yet), and have nothing to say other than the usual lack-of-active-participants. Don't read anything into the silence, we're not about to do a flip-flop with Vox, help 'Nana, or anything else alarming.

I haven't wanted to get involved in the diplomacy myself because: 1) I don't think I'm skilled enough in that dept; and 2) time; and 3) it sets a bad precedent - the team already relies on me too much. Cort Haus has shown an interest in getting into the diplomacy - hopefully you'll get official response(s) from him shortly.

Quick nuggets to chew on for now:
                    - we have no problem with your war with 'Nana, and in fact expected it for quite some time
                    - yes, we should coordinate techs - that will require discussion - we're currently doing Monarchy
                    - trade contact - maybe we should arrange further map trade?
                    - sorry about your Scout - there are still many barb warriors in that area - our units have been occupied elsewhere - I can tell you that the area south of EotS is mostly ice and nothing exciting besides some beavers.

                    Cheers,
                    HM

Disclaimer: I guess you should consider this an unofficial message, since it hasn't been vetted by the team and is just my interpretation of prevailing GS opinion.
I made a quick reply to explain the scout point:
Good to hear from you at last!

We mentioned the scout because we wanted to open a trade route at the same time we'd research Sailing.
Unfortunately there was a single tile left unexplored by both of us on the coast of that river which means you should explore that title if you want to open trade routes.
We think opening trade routes is the way to go as it offers equal benefits to both of our teams, but lets us compete better with the other continent.

                    In hope for further talks,
                    Team AC

                    • I don't really get the point of Monarchy for them now, but well..

                      • Happiness problems perhaps? Maybe they want to grow bigger and can't quite manage it. They have aquaducts (maths right?) so the only problem they have left is happiness. Calendar might not have enough effect and they should have lots of troops left over after the war.

                        • Drama solves happiness problems better imo, but well, it's a possible scenario, which is also beneficial to us as it gives us more time on our own tech.

                              • Monarchy solves all your happiness problems forever. All other techs only add one or two happiness, which is only a temporary help until the cities grow further again. Monarchy is most definitely the logical choice.
