Warlords WILL need a patch (or more), this is the gaming business these days, it's impossible to avoid. This patch could very well have the same reverse compatibility problem we are in now.

People here will likely have joined other DG's that HAVE started. I know I will have. Be it the SPDG, ISDG or other one. Whichever gets going first will likely get the most attention from me, personally.

Watch as another ISDG and SPDG spring up the moment Warlords is released...

I agree with UnO. Not everyone will purchase Warlords, and the DG would likely have to be delayed well beyond its release in order to play with a decent patch.

I agree with MZ that the DG community should agree to keep things sane. CIII DGs really went downhill into glorified PBEMs due to the number of them. So, we really should all try to limit them with C4. We already have a SPDG and intra-site MPDG starting soon, and now there's a ISDG starting that is probably going to get a lot of poly DGers in it, on one team or another. I really hope we can avoid starting any new intra-site DGs with Warlords until their vanilla equivalents have finished.

the most ridiculous thing is not having started the game yet, weve wasted months so far, and the last month has been due to a patch that will be released SOON, but get this that patch will still be coming soon, just as soon as it was coming a month ago !

I was somewhat hoping, this democracy game and the excitement it was supposed to bring would lure me back to Civ4. But it seems it is not meant to happen. I have lost my faith, that this game will ever start.

And I definitely will NOT buy Warlords, at least not for more than, say, 5 or 10 Euros. I hated Conquests for being pretty much a wargame; why in the world would I buy a Civ4 expansion, which focuses on warfare?

Because warfare in Civ4 sucks so bad that perhaps a warfare-based expansion might actually make the game playable?

Here is a concern of mine...

OK, we're waiting for a patch. It changes and nerfs several features. Now, some of us thinkg that maybe we would have chosen different Civs/Leaders in that case. Maybe the whole game is somewhat different.

Folks want a chance to play the game a little before starting... get the hang of the changes, right?

Pretty soon, we are starting from freaking scratch again!!! We started talking about this game in October or November. At least 5 MONTHS ago. I'm surprised that anybody at all is holding on with any interest any more.

No, I don't have an answer, but I have concerns. I cannot say that I disagree with Plato. This DG is a piece of, umm, steak, that has been left on the grill too long. It looked tasty once but is more like a worn out old shoe now.
