And of course may as well then wait for the patch Warlords will inevitably need. I think some teams will want to look at changing civ choices at that point too.

One thing to keep in mind is that even if Warlords somehow came out the week after the patch, it and its patches would presumably be installed to seperate subfolder, allowing vanilla Civ4 to still be played no matter what's up with Warlords. Not so with Civ4 patches, which require hefty and annoying dual installs if you want to play both the newest, best patch and older non-compatible games you started before the last patch.

Btw, I think we should make a solemn promise that once Warlords is out, we will NOT make another demogame. I have never understood why some people just jump up to start new demogames every six months. The glut of DGs is what has made them all the more unappealling for those of us who can barely commmit to one.

Back in the day the entire community was devoted to one game. Two at the most. Right now, we have this one, we have the Civ4 ISDG, then there's the C3CDG which hasn't finished, I mean seriously, what's the point of all that?

I for one have lost a great deal of interest in DGing because of that. Each new game doesn't have half of the personality of the first ones and activity tends to drop exponentially faster than before. In the first games it took well over a year before activity started to drop. In these new ones, after a couple of months of hype, people start quitting. The whole point of demogames is to stick to them to the end, and if we go mad starting new ones we're just contributing to them dying out.

I therefore suggest that we wait until Warlords. Whatever changes would be necessary to make, I think it will be worth it considering the alternative which will be the overeager DG addicts starting a new game as soon as the expansion is released.

The problem with waiting for Warlords are as follows:

Not everyone here will purchase warlords immediately. My own purchase will depend on the release date.

Warlords WILL need a patch (or more), this is the gaming business these days, it's impossible to avoid. This patch could very well have the same reverse compatibility problem we are in now.

People here will likely have joined other DG's that HAVE started. I know I will have. Be it the SPDG, ISDG or other one. Whichever gets going first will likely get the most attention from me, personally.
