SpamYard team had declare this game ended consequence of the lack of interest that many teams had demonstrated during it. We do not had more intentions of dedicating time to it and this include the host of the game, Astro.
We are very disappointed with the members of some teams had disappear. We in spamyard team there had been always at least 4 players available and helping.
We consider that there's had been no winner because he game was still in earlys years of it. So, although some civ had a better performance by now, that still do not guarantee to win this game.
Just for the record, if you someday take part of a demo/team game, just make sure that you are really planning to play it, at least to show a little of respect to those that had dedicated so many time to it. As Astro had. And if you had or want to leave it, at least take the task of finding someone to replace you.
Had a nice day.

Well, if my good ally SY throws the towel in the ring, all I can do is follow suit.

I had a feeling that the 10 or 11 teams we had was a recipe for disaster, and I was right.
And we had people dropping and not playing all along, it didn't just start recently.*"Winning is still the goal, and we cannot win if we lose (gawd, that was brilliant - you can quote me on that if you want. And con - I don't want to see that in your sig."- Beta

That's kind of elitist? Don't you think? I say that all who want to play should be given the chance. I'd rather have a few people drop out than have games with über-committed Civ nazis who b1tch and moan when people lose interest for one reason or another...I love being beaten by women - Lorizael

Now Im a Nazi? OK, great way to reply. Or inother words: "I don't have a good counter arguement so lets resort to name calling"
Some of us don't like spending YEARS working on a game and having it end because the people who thought it was a good idea to begin with can't be bothered to satify there initial commitments.
This problem could have been easily solved by limiting the number of teams, and concentrating potential turn players on fewer teams.
How does that limit people who want to play? So instead of 11 teams having one or maybe two turnplayers, 5 or 6 teams have 3 or 4 turnplayers.......
Everyone is still playing
Thats all Im going to contribute on this subject, because your attitude is the reason why Demo Games never finish around here, or in most cases even get close.*"Winning is still the goal, and we cannot win if we lose (gawd, that was brilliant - you can quote me on that if you want. Oh well, thanks everyone for playing and making the effort.
Special thanks to Astro for hosting and all the baggage that goes with that commitment.
It was fun while it lasted........Let your every day be full of joy, love the child that holds your hand, let your wife delight in your embrace, for these alone are the concerns of humanity.

If this game is over - well thanks everyone who played this far.
And Astro - a big and to you.
Thanks for being a brilliant host.I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

I would like to give some personal thoughts about DG games (I've yet played some in this forum) :
The paces of those DG are too slow and tend to naturally kill the games, because increasingly lack of interest, players quitting, etc. For me, the ideal pace is 1 turn/24 hours, set automatically to 48 hours/turn in case of wars (with a dedicated mod which shorts the remain time when the first team at war has played) . In this manner, games last about 1 and a half year (It's my experience with individual multiplayer pitboss games).
The teams should be formed only by guys who are close between. It better garantees long term playing. Only few known and serious teams should be admitted to play.
For DG games, only pangea (or close to pangea) maps should be taken, because more wars and more interest : the map chosen for this C4WDG was clearly a mistake.
And finally, thanks to you, guys, who have played the game until this unfortunate end
