Engaging and informative as usual. (As someone who mostly reads history, I'm getting impatient for you to finish your degree and write a real book...) These first six chapters have been fascinating as I've gotten the details filled in of the bits and pieces I had picked up during my participation - I came on board in the middle of the most recent installment.

Sadly, as good as the writeup has been I've had my thoughts confirmed - glad I wasn't on board the whole game or super-involved when I was. In addition to all of the diplomatic frustrations, I think I would have burned out if I had been present for all of the beginning organizational snafus. Kudos to the large number of RB members who stayed with it until the end.

Sullla - awesome as usual, of course. But you missed my favorite part of Part 6.

Sorry, no writeup today. I spent about 12 hours digging through the other open forums, had a blast doing it! I'll get back to this tomorrow and should be able to get out a new part.

regoarrarr, I'll see if I can go back and work that little gem into the report too.

            Next section finished:

            Part Seven: Sneak Attack!!!

This is so much fun to write. Hey, why aren't there any Templars in here commenting on this stuff? They might not like this history very much, but I'd love to see their reactions...

Sullla (and Team RB) - do we have a list of questions that we could put to the Templar's (and hope for an answer or two)?

Oh - and I saw the title 'sneak attack' and thought it was us attacking them .

Edit: A brilliant section! I missed when Imperio declared on us ... did you mention it? I think it was implied by us killing their units.

Heh, those Templars are getting a beating. One should remember that at the time of their attack they didn't have the human resources that we had and it was probably just one or two players making the decisions. But it's a vicious circle: silly decisions leads to people dropping out, leading to worse play etc. But from their petty refusal to open their forums I think it's only right to tell the truth about how bad they were. It seems that nearly all of them have decided to keep their forum closed, even the nice ones.

A few minor corrections: The resource trades from banana did not end up being canceled when war was declared (not that we anticipated they would remain). Also, at the start of a previous chapter you talk about A1's impressive food surplus when I think it should read unimpressive food surplus.

                  Next section is ready:

                  Part Eight: Striking Back

Also quite entertaining to put together. I expect to have another one done before the end of the day too! sooooo, I also went back and made the small corrections you suggested. Thanks.

                        New sections ready:

Interlude: Fun and Games with Aidun
Part Ten: Turning of the Tide

There is a lot of stuff in here about the Templars, however I have tried to keep my criticisms directed at their in-game actions and diplomacy, not directed at them personally. If Aidun looks a bit silly, it's because he sent us some rather silly messages.

Very good reads as usual. 2 points that I found interesting about the Imperio NAP agreement that might be worth including

#1 - they were shocked when we accepted the deal
Naldorinho in post #451 of the Situacion Real de la Partida thread -
Vaya pués RB han aceptado nuestras condiciones! Increible!

which basically means - It looks like RB has accepted our conditions. Incredible!

#2 - They did not appear to mean to trade Nationalism for Gunpowder with PAL
Naldorinho from post #453 of the same thread

Well, we have traded Nationalism for Gunpowder with PAL against my intentions, because I sent it by mistake and they have accepted it. With this, we lose the option to trade Nationalism for Gunpowder with RB. So I tell them that we forget the rb technology agreement but everything else is the same. In any case there is drama ....

                            And a couple more corrections:

                            - translation of the peace treaty was by dsplaisted.

                            - they traded with PAL after sending us the peace offer, but before we accepted it. Banana also accepted their offer for Gunpowder.

                            - we were going to trade for Gunpowder from Banana. The 'Stitch Up' forced us to accept the peace much to Naldo suprise.

And FWIW, I don't mind you mentioning that I was the player who said we shouldn't refuse to cede Cape Town on principle, but only if the offer was insufficient.

I should also get around to asking ds to post something in the Spanish forums about the demogame...

You can put my name to the 'lets not rule out ceding Cape Town' camp too. It just depended on the terms - but they had to be pretty good ones.

I think you are using the word fair far too often. Rational wouild be better...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
