This is still chess? What does that mean? I only barely understand the notational system.
No, that's not chess - but since Zeviz' post represented no legal move in chess as well, I thought he wanted to know what e4 times c5 is (in hexadecimal).
Had an amusing chat with tony from PAL while I was logged in. The gist:
He kept asking if I could see their research. Obv I didn't tell him.
He was convinced that we knew Donvovan before he joined banana and also said that Imperio were suspicious and angry that we were cooperating so well with banana. I told him that we didn't, then he said that Donovan said he turned down a lopsided trade proposal because of "his long history with realms beyond". Tony thought that meant history before the game started and he got more and more suspicious when banana kept turning down trade offers that were very good for them. I tried to explain that even lopsided deals with the tech leader aren't wise. He asked Krill to investigate but apparently Krill couldn't find any evidence either way. Anyway, I gave him my word that we didn't know him and that he could check after the game was finished. He seemed to accept that. Apparently gitbliss doesn't share his views.
He said that PAL identified us as their rival 100 turns ago, even when Imperio had a big GNP lead. He criticised Templars and Rabbits as being "awful" and the first Imperio turnplayer too. He says kelben is pretty good and I agreed. He said that templars had contacted him saying that they would only survive 10 turns and that Rabbits would only last 10 turns too.
We talked a bit about the early game, saying Imperio should have expanded more and attacked us.
He's quite an angsty guy, but he is good at civ I have to admit. He was quite amusing to talk to, I tried to taunt him by saying thanks for organising us to meet banana but I think that one passed him by.

if sooooo doesn't want to tell you something or give you something, you ain't getting it. I've experienced this myself

Unless Donovan is secretly Sirian or Charis in disguise, we don't know him at all. He just happened to be about a million times smarter than the original Banana, whose incompetence rivalled that of the Templars.
It's a bit of a shame that things turned out this way with PAL, as they seem to be excellent Civ players. Ruthless and socially inept to be sure (as 80% of the MP community is, somewhat sadly) but definitely strong players. I wish that we had been able to team up in some way and annihilate the rest of the teams. Or just that our capital had been comparable to PAL's triple floodplains + fish + stone starting position, so that we had been able to compete fairly from the start.
OT: Sullla, when you say ruthless socially inept, could you expound the point? You make it sound like ruthlessness is, well, bad (in PM or here depending on what you want)
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
Well I echo Sullla's feeling Krill, though of course I don't speak for him. IMHO being socially inept is worse than being ruthless, but ruthlessness isn't ideal either. Of course we all play to win, but except perhaps in real-life wars sometimes you can walk away happier and as a better person by being a gracious winner. The civ MP example would be good players who are willing to accept a rare rehost when something is really out of whack, or who take a "gg" gracefully without any name calling or harsh trash talk. In this game PAL's early horses gambit was pretty ruthless - they can attack whoever they want, but they lied to pull the attack off, and worse they lied to a third party that hadn't wronged them in any way.
I have nothing against their ruthless play in-game, Krill. Aggression has its benefits and drawbacks, like any other strategy. By "socially inept" I'm referring to the overall nasty tone they've taken throughout the game: lying in diplomacy, making accusatory posts in the general forum, claiming that we recruited a friend of ours to play for Banana, etc. What sunrise said, basically. Look at tonyciv's posts for a good example: he attacks everyone constantly and is never polite.
I had many great MP games in the past where everyone was perfectly cordial to one another. I suppose I'm not surprised that PAL doesn't act that way, but I am disappointed.
