Wow, we got an email from PAL. It begins "Hello Templars" but I think it was meant for us.

I assume you meant "Hello Realms Beyond" instead of "Hello Templars"?

We welcome dialogue with PAL. What would you like to discuss?

I predict that PAL have happiness issues from war weariness and that got worse this turn due to the big fight at Eisenburg. I reckon their next step will be to propose a resource trade for one of our happy resources and maybe open borders.

Clearly we'll turn them down.

Has Templars been at war imperio before? Just considering if they sent it to the wrong person, maybe Templar managed to convince Imperio to leave them alone and Imperio is just stringing us along (not that it makes any real difference...)

Well this is funny. Their assistance would have certainly been nice when we were facing that 2 vs. 1, eh? Which they made worse by propping up our opponents with tech gifts and free resources...

Anyway, we're certainly not Opening Borders or trading them any resources. sooooo is right, their war weariness has to be pretty bad from 80 turns straight of fighting Rabbits, entirely in enemy territory. We really have nothing to talk about with them, aside from maybe fishing for information diplomatically. We certainly aren't trading the runaway team anything in the technology sector!

I think I'm getting pretty good at extracting information from PAL. This time I spoke to cres, their diplo guy who has been away. It seems gitbliss is their general, cres is the diplo guy and tony is the annoyance. There's some real discord in their ranks it seems. Observe:

Crescentfresh is actually a nice guy, unlike Tony who tends to be mean.

Also, FYI, I favor a resource trade if it gets us elephants. Jumbos are still viable through the Curaissar era.

Psychology experts...where is this coming from? My guess is they don't view us as an immediate threat since they are ahead in tech and want to buff themselves via tech and resource trades until Rabbits and Banana are dead. But that was certainly excellent free info - Imperio as RB vassals (), Templars gifting cities, etc.

Two thoughts:

1) Remember how Imperio wanted to be the ones to communicate the change in situation to Templars and PAL ... I think that's how they sold it to them, as becoming our Vassals.

2) I saw in the Banana thread some suggestion that they had traded maps with PAL - that's not how I read this conversation at all. He's asking if we've seen the New World via a map from Banana, not suggesting that they have seen it via that route.

Also; of course PAL wants to trade with us now ... to stop us trading with Banana!

Unless it's a cunning PAL master plan, spewing lies to make us even angrier at Templars, so when their team is eliminated we don't get the benefit of any of their members joining...wait, that makes no sense whatsoever
