I'll post a full military sit-rep later this evening.

In short, we don't need more than two cats because our units have odds on everything except their crossbow. Also, the longer we delay the more we risk they move into the forest from their hill...surely they can't expect to hit Pink and they can't plan to sit there forever.

      @sunrise: cheers, and agreed.

If I'm reading m_h's post right, they have actually pulled a crossbow off the hill to cover their worker in the Jungle? If that is the case then maybe we do want to hit them next turn, and consequently we would want the additional Mace out of PD.

Iirc, we have now 3 Xbows in view. One on the occupied hill, one covering their worker and one on the Look Out Hill. in neutral territory.

Just for the record. Templars do already have line of sight inot PD, because it's on a hill.

gees - don't scare me by reviving such an old thread without some sort of explanation. I saw the pic above your post and thought that was their current stack ... until I noticed it was about a month old.

But isn't their current stack bigger? (or at least less obsolete)

Here's a picture from last turn (T149) with the current stack:

                    Sorry ruff.

We planted a longbow on that hill to scare them off and that worked.
Why don't we put an archer into that forests and promote it to a longbow as well. The same for the forest hill (which says "1t chop").

Also keep in mind that PD will pop its 4th ring in 3 turns! Adding 20% more defense and getting us more tiles.

That said, I don't think we are in a situation were we should scramble to defend PD, but could spare some troops (cats) to assault Const.

Do we think they're going to try and occupy that forest? It seems to me that they are going for a pink dot attack, and move 1NW

Sorry mh, I can't agree. Eliminating this Templar stack should be first priority. Once we remove the threat against Pink, we can move up all our forces and then go after Constantinople. Templars have few cities and aren't in Slavery. Killing off their stack will hurt them much more than it hurts us, and the key thing is to eliminate threats to our cities, so that the fighting takes place in their territory.

There's also Imperio to worry about. We can't capture Constantinople right now without making ourselves critically weak at Pink and Cape, neither of which we want to do.

Oh, and from a tactical standpoint, we best guard the worker on the forested hill tile by moving the knight from Something Fishy there for the 1t remaining on the chop. Then next turn both are freed up to move elsewhere.

If we're going to leave the Worker on the grass forest hill, we need to cover it to prevent tempting Templars into sniping with a Chariot. The Worker should start Roading this turn, so it could be finished next turn to allow any unit moved there as a guard to move away on roads next turn.

So while the diplomatic corps do their thing, do we have any ideas for what we can do to smash their stack?

Someone I think mentioned that they had moved it south onto the jungle? BTW if it matters, this was done after their 16 hours. They logged out at 5:54 pm EDT yesterday, and I was still logged in, and their stack was where it was before (on the grass 2SE of PD). They must have moved it this morning when they logged in and finished turn.

So is it fairly invulnerable in the jungle?

We can take it out, but we'll loose several cats. Basically, in the jungle our knights will be attacking at strength 11 versus enemy maces defending at strength 12.8. I'd want something like 5 cats to hit the stack before I'd be confident about attacking it. Better to wait for it to move I think.

Right, they have to come out of the jungles to do anything, so we can wait for the moment. And time benefits us against Templars.
