Isn't that an offensive act that should be challenged diplomatically? I'm assuming their EPs against us dropped as they employed the spy so we can certainly tell it was them.

Do we want to keep dealing with a team like this or should we go to a full war prep mode?

    Where are the hawks?

    • To what end should we challenge them? It's not like we stand any chance on the offensive (regardless of our current lack of metal) in the short term. You need to have a sabre if you want to rattle it

We want to deal with them: if they give us Currency for Aesthetics and Literature, we should be more than happy.

      • Swiss, Ruff was calling for the Hawks!
Avery hawkish suggestion would be to declare war and pillage their 5 sea food resources as retaliation. It is true, that we are in no state to go on the offensive, but neither are they. (half kidding here, of course).
Another option would be to offer Aesthetics vs. Currency in game and then "forget" about offering Literature or offering Literature for a hefty reparation payment (to pay the poor widows of our dead miners).

We should not mention it until we have the Aesthetics / Currency deal in the bag. Than we can raise all diplomatic hell, even mentioning it to other civs.

We should consider building a worker in Cape Town, especially if our horses are next.

        • Ok, so the galley confirmed the 3rd workboat at Uxmal, good.
I would have liked Sharon the scout to hug the coast more closely and circle the barb city to the north, instead of retracing her steps.

          • Hi,

in my opinion we shouldn't ask ourselves how to react diplomatically to their pillaging our metal, but *why* they did this. I don't know how rational they act, but paying 75ep simply to pillage our metal only to let us reconnect it again a couple of turns later would be quite silly. The only reason I can see is that an attack is imminent. Maybe we will be able to see their advancing attack stack next turn, but no longer can emergency-whip units to defend against it without metal? I really don't want to panic, but shouldn't we try to prepare somehow for such a situation, like converging some units to the front in case they really are about to attack?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see any rational reason to pillage a strategic resource "just for fun". Caveat: I don't log in to our game and have no real sense of our current situation (what our visibility range against them is; how many units are where, etc.)

            • Well, we have a whole thread dedicated to this situation. http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?t=183400
              A little summary:
We have a NAP until T120.
We have good idea about their army size and composition.
On top of that we have scouts positioned to spot any military build up near Cape Town.

The critical thing I see is, that we won't connect them up in a couple of turns but need at least 7-8 turns. If they pillage the horses, that will take even longer.

I am in favor of calling in the iron from PAL after we come out of anarchy. That will ensure we can resume military production in Cape Town and our workers can focus on the horses.

              • A granary whip definitely was one of the suggestions in the HG thread. I'm fairly (99%) I did not do this in the real game thinking it was the sim game. Don't know about ruff

And this definitely affects our HG plans. It might not be devastating though, since we were going to get 30 from a single whip, but this means that we're going to esentially be losing 1 tile of production for the next few turns.

And I'm trying to log in but I can't choose our empire. Does that mean someone else from our team is already logged on?

                • Yes, I was logged in. Civstats will tell you if one of us is already in.
                  I am out now.

                    PAL doesn't have Iron connected.

Yes, I should have taken a look there, indeed. I've forgotten about the NAP (which I assume will be honored, as they don't want to trash their rep). That still doesn't answer the "why", though - although pillaging our horses next, plus moving a stack into our view still coincides nicely with that magic turn 120... I don't see any other sensible explanation, except for silly playing. So yes, we should indeed ask PAL for a strategic resource.

                      • I would not rule out silly playing.
Yep, PAL has only copper. So we take the copper.

Nope - not me. I havently logged into the game for at least 3 days and I use "TeamRealmsBeyond" when I do. Should we log in with our name in future ... "Team RB-Ruff"?

                              • Unmoved Units T112

Worker John in the forest at Pink and worker Horowitz on Green Acres' wines. Depending on what we decided to do re HG and Cape Town, we need to set the appropriate actions before continuing.

I favour continuing with HG at Pink as I think we're better off not training units there until we have HBR. If we want to go for units, then we should switch to research at Pink and stockpile the chops for when HBR is in.

I think we should send Horowitz to Cape Town directly.

(Billy Jean Tell has one movement point left, but I assume will still want her to Spy on Mutal.)

With that, it's over to sooooo to complete the turn tomorrow.
