  • Will have a look for a stable then. I doubt they have built one.
They know our best units are axes. So Chariots make some sense. They are certainly cheaper than elephants, right?

    EDIT: No stable for Imperio.

    • We'll have to see whether we can get Templars back onside (though it may be too late), and we really have to meet Banana. I don't think PAL will ever accept us going through their empire, so it'll have to be the Galley.

      • Hmm....so Imperio maces in the near future. Hopefully they will at least delay their attack in order to build them.

Sentry chariot is a silly build - sentry horse archer is what you want, and you just make sure to have other horse archers around with the comba1 promo so you don't have to worry about the sentry defending.

        • What are the thoughts of sending a message to PAL that says "We are about to be attacked by a CIV that is already out-teching everybody with Maces, Elephants, and Cats. Banana have sold Machinery to everybody else, and the only thing we can trade them are useless artsy techs. So if you don't let us meet Banana, get ready to deal with Imperio that has full control of Western continent in a few dozen turns."

Meanwhile, we should get our scouts into best position to go straight for Banana land. If PAL still refuses to let us through after we get CS from them, we should send the scout south anyway. There is nothing to lose, because we can't resist Maces with ancient units, so we'll be out of the game if we don't get Banana trade soon.

With superior production we can. Elephants have even odds on maces with equal promos, and cats+horse archers kill maces just fine.

            • I think your message is way too negative Zeviz. We have yet to see a proper military build up from Imperio.
And "useless artsy techs"? Come on, I think we have a good tech plan.

If Imperio is not ready to attack on T120 (and I start to doubt it) we will be in very good shape on T130 or so to fend off anyones attack.

Set research back to Drama @ 100% btw.

              • I understand Zeviz frustration because we're out in the cold right now, but we can't afford to annoy PAL too much, nor should we overstate Imperio's threat until they actually declare war on us.

Also, Imperio mentioned in the main forum that they have a new team member on board, but couldn't work out how to admit him to their forum. Maybe this new blood is the reason for their recent build switches.

                • Saxon is size 2 now. We should hurry up finishing that axe and take Saxon before it builds another, better defender.

                  • I'll do the formal turn report tonight, but some quick highlights:

                    - Betty Hur killed the barb axe and took very little damage. She's at 3.5/4 health, which should be plenty to kill the barb warrior. Unless another defender appears in the next two turns, Saxon will fall to us on T111.

                    - The connection of wines significantly improved our research rate, and increased our Food/Production stats too. We're back to #2 in food behind PAL, and #1 in Production!

                    - We revealed one of Imperio's cities, Mutalac - exactly on the tile where mostly_harmless said it would be. Now more C&D stat-work can be carried out.

Like I said, more when I have time tonight.

                    • A glass of wine and the world is a happier place. Well done. The empire surely looks better than the last turn. If for some reason PAL is not giving us ivory next turn (and we can foresee that somehow) we might want to stall growth at A1 by not working the cows but hiring another scientist.

EDIT: PAL and Imperio finished the Civil Service deal.
PAL got Currency (confirming our C&D number for their treasury). Imperio got Civil Service!

So, PAL has Civil Service & Machinery for Maces. Rabbits are toast!
Pal also has Literature from us and is industious. Only a question of time until we see their Heroic Epic.

Imperio just needs Machinery (trade from Templars) and we face Maces as well.

For next turn our scouting warrior on the other continent should make his way west asap to meet up with the galley, as I don't see PAL to allow to cross their land any time soon. Moving the galley through their waters, might already push things too much.

Maypan (Imperios 5th city) at size 2 has a barracks as its first building!

And I have another question for the map maker. What is Rabbits happiness resource supposed to be? Surely not the whales?!?!?

But didn't Templars get Machinery from Banana, in which case Imperio have to get it from the same source. (Just blame the glass of Wine, m_h!)

                        Do Imperio know Bananas?

                        • Good point, cant remember, so many tech trades around.
But you are right, Templars researched Metal Casting lately.
I don't think Imperio met Banana, so they have to research Machinery themselves. Trivial for the GNP leader.

(I blame the long absence of wine...)

                          • Good news about the no tech brokering machinery thing.

Does PAL get a Indy bonus on National wonders as well?

                            • Yeah, IND civs get the bonus on National Wonders.

Should we offer PAL marble for gems in-game (if they still have a spare source)?

                              • They do have a spare source of gems.
On the one hand we could further up our happy cap with gems.
On the other hand, do we really give a IND civ access to marble now?

Maybe we should, as there is unclaimed marble to PAL north and they have not settled a city in ages.

I tend to support that notion.
