As a spin off from the C&D department I thought I create this thread to discuss tactics in more detail.
Sunrise, this for you to play around with if you like.

I was thinking for a while now whether it would be helpful if we had a copy of the world to test things out. (Not just for virtual battles but for Dot Mapping and Ahead Planning as well).
I suck at WorldBuilder but here is my first attempt. It can obviously be improved upon.
Anyone has the time and the skill to copy the real world into this worldbuilder file? (Can it be done by saving the Pitboss game and opening it in WB? Or will that reveal the whole map? Don't want to cheat here.)

I especially get a headache with the river placement!

    So, any takers?

BTW. The map is based on C&D prediction (# of land tiles) as far as the southern coast is concerned.

I'll take this on. I'll d/l the above and create a full blown copy of our continent.

      Excellent.
If you post it back, I can add missing things like actual cultural values etc.
We should then have a regular updated WBSave around that our generals can play around with.

This is a great help M_H. Most of my strategic discussions happen while I'm at work, so a lot of the specifics are guesswork.

not well - trying to find time to do this. I have a 2 hr flight tonight and I will see if I can get the land mass done with suitable tile properties.

If you need to look this up again, you can find it in the third post of the first turnplayer thread.

here you go. I haven't created the cities or tile improvements or the other island. Probably should throw something down and move the various players to their approximate locations.

                      Excellent, Ruff.
I went ahead and put in the details (cities, improvements, rivals, borders, etc) as we know them at T86.

How did you place the cities? Put a settler then are then found city or is there another way?

                          Worldbuilder:
Player Mode -> Buildings -> Top left corner is "Place City"

I would like to use this war-room game to do the following tests:

                            - settle marble site
                            - connect marble to capital
                            - chop out Oracle (until GL is available)
                            - chop out GL

This will let us know when we can expect to finish the Oracle and GL. However, to get the comparison reasonable, the war-room game would need to replicate our city trade positions as well as all of the other features (cottage growth, etc).

This might be too hard, so I will probably just resort to using the war-room to see how long it takes to position troops / workers, build roads, quarries and chop.

connecting up the PAL cities via road network and opening borders should take care of the trade routes.
