Donovan told us last night that the Rabbits deal with PAL was "Open Borders only." Now that information is second-hand, so take it for what it's worth...

Rabbits have settled a couple of cities we can't see (Aachen & Whaleport) so I suggest we propose Lit for Map in game. Banana has gifted techs (Feud, Aesthetics, etc.), so we may as well join in.

I don't think it is that important to see what cities Rabbits settled, but if they agree to that trade, fine. Just make sure to not give away our map.

All of this Rabbit diplo is kind of subtext-heavy for my taste. I mean, they can't research anything, so I don't mind giving them techs too much, but our map can be brokered right to PAL. How convinced are we that Rabbits are firmly in the RB+Banana camp?

No one suggested we give them our map, it was their map for our tech (literature). And we could say we'll give them philosophy too later if they can get metal casting from somewhere.

Except that they cannot get metal casting from somewhere. Templars died. They must research it manually or lightbulb it (sometimes a Great Merchant can.) Metal Casting is certainly cheap compared to contemporary techs, though, and they can probably do it if they actually try.

I think Banana told us that Rabbits should research MC in about seven turns.

Yep, their ETA is 6-7 turns for MC. We can safely assume they still hate PAL, but I'll start PMing TheViking once we start to gift/trade techs.

What we really want is for them to give us their gold each turn, in exchange for us gifting them the technologies we research. This will get us techs much faster than Rabbits trying to research on their own. (We have high research capability and high costs; they have low costs, and can contribute on the gold front.) This also essentially locks them into a master-vassal relationship with us, although let's be honest, they're pretty much already there.

Of course, we have to wait for them to get Metal Casting first before we can do much of anything.

I'm not sure we'll get anywhere trying to get cash from Rabbits: they need to self-research CS, so I think we should more or less gift them techs (as Banana has been doing). As such, I'd propose to gift them Optics in 8/9 turns in return for a whale. Then we can ask Banana to gift them Astro, so that they can close borders with PAL without losing any trade routes.
