  • I like this latest draft. It has the right amount of challenge without insults. Thanks for going through so many drafts.

          • I don't think that we will ever trust Templar again. Nor will we get any sort of trade from them. I think that some members of the team are really keen to take a peace out of Templar ...

... can I now send something like this ...

An Open Message to the Honorable Knights Templar,

I have done some research into the Knights Templar and located the following:

Knights of the medieval era were asked to "Protect the weak, defenseless, helpless, and fight for the general welfare of all." These few guidelines were the main duties of a medieval knight, but they were very hard to accomplish fully. Rarely could even the best of knights achieve these goals. Knights trained, inter alia, in hunting, fighting, and riding. They were also trained to practise courteous, honorable behaviour, which was extremely important.

            ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight

            and ... http://knights-templar.us/

The last link is another Knights Templar computer game clan that play first person shooter games. From the intro to their site, they strongly focus on Honour and fighting evil.

Now you may claim that you are cut from the same cloth as these computer game playing modern knights templar ... that you behave honourably and fight evil.

Team Realms Beyond would describe you in a markedly different light. You have pillaged a road that you said we could legitimately build, you have contracted to trade technologies with us and Banana in the full knowledge that you will not honour such a deal, treated with a nation that openly acknowledges that they are planning war (and that you are included in their war plans), you have marshaled offensive units in an aggressive way on our border for the last 2 turns, you have consistently failed to explain the actions of these units, failed to respond to our inquiries regarding said units and, now, declared war for no reason, invaded our sovereign land and threatened our population.

Now you can see why we do not see you as The Honourable Knights Templar.

            Team Realms Beyond
I would like to them them this email and also post it to the open forum.

            • If we are going to post in the open, I'd prefer to start by listing all of their treachery (from double-moving settler to steal iron while negotiating about borders, to telling us they were discussing NAP 2 turns before launching a sneak attack), and talk about Knights Templar only in the end. The start of the email is what most people will think about, and we want the focus to be on "Templars can't be trusted", rather than "we don't think they are role playing correctly".

              • When we sign off, we should make certain to say:
                You have Chosen Unwisely

                • Not sure if we should be referencing wikipedia because.. well.. its wikipedia.

                  • The problem is that we have no one to convince. Rabbits are irrelevant. Banana are on our side and we can easily tell them in a private email that the templars are untrustworthy. PAL probably don't care since templars are behind in tech and can only probably be used for short-term opportunist tech deals.

                    • I say we email them twice a day with short messages like:

                      "How's that NAP discussion progressing?"
"We buried those horse archers with a christian funeral. We trust that you will let their families know?"
"What are you having for tea tonight? I fancy a nice steak and chips."
"What is your ETA for Drama?"
"Is all that stuff about you in the Da Vinci Code true?"

                        • I am with sooooo. There is nobody to convince.
And even if there was, it was proven that reputation is over-estimated. If a deal is available, teams will trade with unlikely partners.

                          I like the taunting.

"At least when invaded GS you had 25 immortals. You guys really have gone downhilll since then, just like the rest of Apolyton."

OK, I wouldn't expect any of you guys to get the reference, it's from the PTWDG (about 6 years ago, almost tothe day in fact), when they backstabbed a team after getting gold from everyone else to mass upgrade warriors to immortals to backstab a single team. They were defeated in 12 turns...

I am fully on board with this, and I think we should do it. (The open letter is a bad idea, IMO, we will simply let other teams know in our emails with them about Templars and their duplicitous nature.) No one in the world could say that they don't deserve some flak for their two-faced diplomacy.

How about an Apolyton PM consisting of nothing but a hammer smiley face when we crush their stack?

                              • Just a quick FYI, but sending PMs such as those may be judged as harrasment by the mods and they'll tell you to cut it out.

However, doing the same thing in a thread on the public forum along with a bit of roleplay is usually encouraged (hint hint). Just don't flame (well, too much, anyway).
