Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
We were pleased to see your latest email, and happy that diplomatic channels remain open and cordial. It appears that our relationship with Imperio is a sad example of how a breakdown in communications can hurt both teams, and unfortunately it only takes one difficult party to ruin a close working relationship no matter how committed the other party is to cooperation and friendship.
Nice intro - just a small change to imply that it appears our relationship with Imperio is taking a turn for the worse - we don't know if they are going to declare yet. Certainly appears so, but I would prefer to say 'it appears'.
Despite the apparently stressful situation on our continent, RB would still be happy to make the previously-discussed trade with the Templars. And we remain as committed to the NAP as ever. We would love to agree to a NAP now and make the trade as soon as you have Drama available. Do you have an ETA on the tech?
ditto above
Based on observable unit movement, it would appear that our continent is heading towards war. RB would like to again re-affirm our commitment to [strike]case for[/strike] peace on our continent. Perhaps your civilization has some influence on Imperio and can convince them to [strike]see reason[/strike] join us in this commitment. RB is more than capable and more than willing to defend ourselves, but even a victorious war will be bittersweet not only because it allows PAL to continue running away with the game, but because it demonstrates a failure of our earnest efforts to build peaceful relationships with our neighbors.
same reasoning as above
I'm reminded of the time before the first world war when "the lamps were going out all over Europe." The civilizations then felt compelled by inertia to a bitter and bloody war. And yet, so long as there was still peace, war was never truly inevitable.
nice but what??
It is our earnest hope that peace can still be secured across our entire continent. If others' actions make that impossible however, we still the seeds of Templar-RB cooperation can still bear fruit.
I don't understand the 'we still the' part.
We're sure Templars would like time to ensure our trade offers are truly in your best interest. Please be aware though that events are moving beyond RB's ability to set the pace. The quicker we can secure our tech trade and NAP the quicker we can ensure the competitiveness of both our fine civilizations.
Nice. Glad you didn't say 'beyond RBs ability to control'.

This might be a long shot - but what if we were to adopt Christianity during a Golden Age this turn? Would Templars side with us and go after the Islamic infidels?
Nah - Templars may like role-playing, but not to THAT extent. More importantly, let's send the version 2.0 of sunrise's message out ASAP. It's a wonderful letter, and I personally love the WWI reference.
My attempt at a compromise. I didn't compromise much though
Proposal:
Noble Templar,
We were pleased to see your latest email, and happy that diplomatic channels remain open and cordial. Our relationship with Imperio is a sad example of how a breakdown in communications can hurt both teams, and unfortunately it only takes one difficult party to ruin a close working relationship no matter how committed the other party is to cooperation and friendship.

Unfortunately all of the available signs suggest our continent is moving towards war. RB would like to again state our case for peace on our continent. While RB is more than capable and more than willing to defend ourselves, even a victorious war will be bittersweet not only because it allows PAL to continue running away with the game, but because it demonstrates a failure of our earnest efforts to build peaceful relationships with our neighbors. Perhaps your civilization has some influence on Imperio and can convince them to see things the same way.

Ruff, the reasons I didn't accept your changes wholesale is because all of the early paragraph changes understate things IMHO. Imperio has ignored our emails, let our NAP run out, pillaged our resources, and move a huge stack to our border. Clearly things aren't going well The situation isn't apparently stressful, it IS stressful. In the same vein we DON'T have a commitment to peace on our continent. We WANT peace, but if the other side declares war we aren't going to back down, passively resist, or sue for terms.

... swapped the NAP and tech trade around because it is NAP first, tech trade second.

Dear Zevis Interin Ambassador of Team Realms Beyond.
I posted your message in our forum and there is I believe a generally positive attitude to tech exchange that RB have proposed. We acknowledge the generosity in the deal offered.
There is still discusssion ongoing about the NAP extension. I will get back to you when that is complete.
Yours Templars
Hercules

So, should we tell Templars that Impero's stack has moved away from the border?
Templars,
Thought you might be interested that Imperio's stack moved to our borders, but then ran away and is currently cowering behind the walls of Chichen Itza. They're at least 2t from declaring, so I hope you weren't coordinating too closely...
