I think we should overpay Banana whatever we need to get that Iron. Trading Monarchy straight up for the resource would not be too much. Our need is desperate. And Banana is PAL's next victim so propping them up will help us in the long run.

Hi Bananas,
we are happy for our civs to have met finally and to establish a good start by opening borders. Surely you will appreciate the additional income through your first intercontinental trade routes.
We see that you have established good relations with PAL.
In the light of this and increasing tension on our continent we would like to offer you a deal for your metal:
Banana to provide TRB with metal from T113 on for 10 turns. TRB to provide Banana with a resource of their choice (excl. Horses) for the same 10 turns. On top of that we would offer you discounts on future tech deals as well as free supply of wines for a period of time.
As this is rather urgent, we are anxiously waiting for a reply to finish the deal this turn.
Regards
TRB

I still have not given up the hop to get metal our way this turn.
I suggest to offer Banana a resource of our choice (except Horses) for their metal for 10 turns (and favourable tech trades in the future).
Any thoughts?
EDIT: ! Banana has not met Imperio yet. Thats good.
And they have no open borders with Templars. So our trade routes are the first intercontinental they get! Sloppy diplo.

I agree with T-Hawk that we should go for the deal (in case anyone was in doubt).

Yep and lots of food, so an increase in happy cap might be interesting for them.
I assume its still AutomatedTeller doing the Banana Team. I have PMed him over at CivFan, where he is pretty active.
So what would be our accepted deal?
Gifting Monarchy for Iron (10 turns)?
Trading Wines for Iron obviously.
Or Marble for Iron.

I would offer Monarchy, Aesthetics, and a resource to be agreed upon (and they can postpone getting the resource if they want) for Compass and 10 turns of Iron, and an agreement to trade Machinery for Philo if we can offer it within ten turns. That deal is quite in their favor, but not if we pull an Imperio and negotiate for the exclusive Philo trading deal. Of course, we need some way to get Metal Casting.
Will we get a GS before PAL can in apparently 4 turns?

I still don't think it's worth bulbing the scientist on philosophy. If it's templars, then we're screwed because they won't trade with us. I think it is worth agreeing to give them both monarchy, literature and aesthetics for machinery (when we eventually get MC), with the proviso that we get iron for 10 turns right now. We can supply the monarchy and aesthetics in advance. I'm really against bulbing philo.

I am off for this turn. Swiss, can you try to sned something to Banana asap (this turn)?
